Topic: A message to the newer traders out there on MOTL

I've been doing my normal rounds through the Have/Want lists, and I noticed that a lot of the New Members are making, well, not a mistake, but making it harder for trades to go down. I've seen a lot of answers to proposed trades on the Have/Want lists themselves. A lot of people are like me; we'll make an offer, then never check the post again, expecting to get an email about the trade. In fact, I, and quite a few other traders, actually put on our replies to email us if the person is interested in the trade. Still, though, the newer people (not all of you, of course) are posting the answers on the post itself instead of emailing. So if you have an answer to your post, unless the person requests that you not email, email the poster your reply. You'll miss out on a lot of possible trades if you don't.

I always put in the post to email me a response. But, if I don't hear from them in a few days, I search the directory under my user name. I don't know if this would work for someone who posts a lot, but it works for me.

I agree with everyone here.I usually make about five post replies for trades a day.( my fault not copying the post masters name) I don't here about it again. On a different point is it just me or do a lot of the newer members ask for us to send first?Even when they have no refs what attidude

Well StrmDrake, you can try to find a specific one of my posts from the search, but I doubt you will in less than an hour, and the time it would take probably isnt worth it.

Thanx a lot Trademark, you've hurt my ribcage by sitting at your comp and typing. I don't know why but I laughed very hard when I first saw your reply and if it pops into my head at school I seem hysterical. Since this message was meant for newer members, are they really seeing this? None of the newer members have replied to this so I'm thinking maybe 2 new memebers that don't reply much have seen this so far. Trademark, i still have four camels hostage...mint! They're not going to be mint soon. More importantly newer members should have some common sense and stop making about five copies of the same post in the have/wants forum. Are any of the mods in the have/wants forums allowed to delete the excess posts and e-mail the newbie about the motl policy on this? I could understand mods dodn't do this because it would take forever but somebody with a lot of time (*cough* *hic* *me?*) could delete all those extras and send them just a small warning about it. I would GLADLY take the status of something lower than moderator so people will take me seriously when I tell them that they can only post one have/want list every two days. Always when i try this they will either accept or laugh at my theory. There would be a lot of rejection if my status got changed to something else so somebody else should have da job.(ehh...roff?goblin?Chris1?) I've seen these guys a lot. I haven't seen too much of rofellos lately though.

Okay, I posted this thing in NOVEMBER of last year, and you know what's weird? Today's Across the Board, my daily column, is about the same thing. And then I see that somebody replied to this ancient thing...freaky.

Well, being ancient does not mean it is outdated. I am a new member HERE, but I agree...at the other places placing a post means no response. I am gonna throw up a have/want list, but don't want people to post necessarily...would rather e-mail, since it is the easiest thing for me to check. I always thought that deals should be simul-send...I have great ratings elsewhere, and it is the best system.
