Went to a Helvault pre-release on Sunday and opened absolute crap to make a deck out of. I started out W/G, too slow, switched to U/G, didn't like it and settled on U/R. Went 1-3 and was very disappointed. I had no bombs, no removal and a bunch of piddly creatures.I even showed my card pool to my opponents after each match and all agreed that I had a bunch of poo poo. Even more disappointing was the store I went to didn't even do the whole achievement thing. At the end of the 4 rounds they just handed everyone a die, over sized card and Angel/Demon token from the Helvault. On top of that, they had extra over sized cards, and when I asked what they were going to do with them, the guy said "Well I can't give you any more than one or else I'd have to give everyone else one, and I can't sell then, sooo....I'll just hang onto them." I was under the impression the stores had to hand out all the product from the Helvault, am I correct in hearing this? I was pretty annoyed since I collect legendary cards, and wanted to try and get the 5 cards in one shot, but apparently I have to trade for them. If anyone has an over sized Gisela, Griselbrand or Sigarda and want to trade them, check my list please. Thanks, --Evil __________________ I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds. everyone has a bad pool every now and then. My best card at the new phyrexia event was 2 maul splicers with 0 ramp. I got razorverge thicket grindclock phyrexian unlife Unwinding clock Distant Memories Mitotic Manipulation I showed my store keeper and he laughed. I asked for a refund he said no lol. I think I got an extra Phyrexian Metamorph cause some guy left early that top 16, but left when the top 4 were doing elimination and shop guy gave it to me.

Meh, everyone just kind of laughed when the achievement thing was explained. Some people threw the cards away. Others ripped them up cause it was funny. No one really cared about them at mine. All in all, it was a dumb idea. The helvault has to be opened by the end of the tournament any how. If it was more fun for some people, so be it.

Did 3 Pre-releases.1st one: 2-2 playing U/R. No money at all. Had a ton of Soulbound and just annoying cards. The 3/1 unblockable + Tandem Lookout is just crazy. No rares worth playing outside of Burn at the Stake. 2nd one: 3-0-1 playing W/G, splashing red. Simply disgusting pool. Avacyn + Restoration Angel + the +4/+4 soulbound. Also had Descendants' Path, the 3/3 vigilance that gives humans protection from something, and the r/w land for the splash. Add in that I had tons of humans and big nasty creatures, it was just nuts. Got my 10 packs and cracked Vexing Devil as the best money. 3rd one: 1-2 drop again playing U/R. Opened Griselbrand, but my black stunk. Vexing Devil never saw play. Was kinda the same deck as the 1st one, except I finally had miracle cards and no Tandem Lookouts. My conclusion: Play white or don't win. quote: Originally posted by caquaa: Meh, everyone just kind of laughed when the achievement thing was explained. Some people threw the cards away. Agreed, but in our store, the card was proof of being the first X people who registered, so you could get the prize. Most of us saw it as this: Just do it and get the damn thing opened faster so we could leave is we wanted to drop. __________________ MOTL's Most Likely to Play in the Pro Tour - 2007, 2008, and 2009 (My 2008 Nationals) The Official Tower Magic Facebook Page

white is very strong, but from my experience I noticed that it was really just based on the amount of low drops you got in whatever particular color. I was dominated by some blue tempo decks with the flying and card drawing soul bound, not to mention the flying man-o-war. Green also has some strong dudes. I think, just like any sealed format, it really just depends on what you open. My first pool white was trash.... along w/ the other 4 colors, lol.

Same store as MAB_Rapper.First flight: Pull foil Bonfire of the Damned, Dark Impostor, and another on-color rare, go B/R with tons of removal. Went 3-1, good enough for 3 packs and $6 in store credit. Pull Sigarda out of one of the packs. Second flight: Didn't really open anything money-wise other than Vexing Devil, went U/G Soulbond with 2 Wandering Wolves, and both green Miracles. Went 2-2, getting blown out by a guy with Bonfire, Bruna, and tons of removal, and a guy that went superfast B/R aggro. Highlight of the night: So a priest and a cocky 20-year-old guy get into an argument after the 20-something guy changes the channel. The argument escalates into a full on fight, with the priest THROWING THE FIRST PUNCH. The fight continues for a few more seconds, after which people finally notice. End result: the priest broke the other guy's nose, gets arrested, gets banned for some amount of time.

Has anyone played with the ulwaven tracker. The one that lets your stuff fight other stuff? I think he's pretty good and am thinking about buying a set, but he looks like he's gonna be a bulk rare and don't know if I should just wait it out. Suggestions?

Ulvenwald Tracker is really terrible by himself. A fine Green Suns Zenith target, but i dont think any deck wants 4 of him. Unless you're playing casual, then he's fine. __________________ "He fights you not because you have wronged him, but because you are there."[16:17] <@BrassMan> what do you need new tech for? On paper he looks like he can kill birds, noble hierarchs and with an exalted trigger have your goyf kill other goyfs. But ever since mythics, every time I have to pay more than a dollar for a rare, I feel like I got ripped off. Anyone else with the same psychology?

Nope, cause things like Snapcaster exists....in fact think that mentality is shortsighted and stupid but meh. With that said Tracker seems good, but agree on the 1-2 of at least till GSZ rotates then we have to play 4 of to see him. __________________ I shall have the souls of all who defy me. "Lord Crovax"

I guess I forgot to put that I meant average rares not including clearly highly in-demand rares like snapcaster mage or cavern of souls. I didn't know I had to stupid proof my posts that much, but since I am new, meh. The tracker feels like a soulbond card since he needs a friend for him to be good, I guess I will just take the 8 dollar hit and maybe he'll be worth 3 dollars on day so I can collect my winnings

I've gotten to the point online, I take what I read how I read it, assuming nothing. Seems to make life easier, if harsher. and yea, I see him being a 2-3$ card, unless M13/RtR prints some really really good creatures to pair him with. He also seems fairly good in G/W Tokens, between anthems and township, your stuff will usually be bigger. __________________ I shall have the souls of all who defy me. "Lord Crovax"

so the pre-release i went to (had to drive 8 hours, nearest lgs) we had 108 people for the first flight, 6 pack sealed. then 50 some for the second one, right after the first. I wished I went to the one the next day too. Felt sorry for my friend, he had a decent pool but had a temporal mastery open right beside him and a foil one open right across from him. lol
