No posts here in the past couple of weeks. IN the 10 day view nothing showed up. Sad panda.Know anyone who wants to get into legacy/vintage and has funds to buy some of my stuff? I've made progress releasing cards back into the wild but would like to make more.

As always, it just depends on the price.

Anybody interested in forming a trade relationship for foils of new released sets? I've opened 2 cases of Kaladesh so far and plan to open more boxes. I only build prerelease sets and special release sets in foil anymore so I don't need most of the in set foils

Aren't pre-release promos rarer than the pack foils? And in a sense, aren't they also much more collectible? When I started buying foil cards for my EDH foils from the new sets, I noticed how the cards no matter the power level are less expensive than in the past (e.g. Emeria Shepherd, Dig Through Time).

Prerelease versions of most cards are much more rare and or more valuable after the set has been out for a decent amount of time. High end stuff is still more desirable for in set foil than it is in prerelease foil from my experience in trading for prerelease cards. I help build the prerelease sets for a friend that's been doing them since the beginning with Tempest.

Now that prerelease foils include any rare/mythic they tend to about about the same price as set foils. Agree with others, older prerelease foils are usually about the same price as the set non-foil.

I have a question for any of you that do larger tournaments (6 rounds or more): What kind of sleeves do you use? Do you have issues with new versions of the sleeves you use getting marked up, scratched or otherwise "marked"?__________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. ive always used ultra pro matte finish sleeves, and they hold up fine for something like a GP. a few tips: dont sleeve your SB - maindeck sleeves get a surprising amount of wear, and late into a tourney, you'll start to notice that your sb cards are in much 'newer' sleeves. marked cards is bad. however, keep extras. sometimes sleeves break. buying a whole new pack at the venue and resleeving takes a long time. just be sure to give that new sleeve some good shuffling so you dont end up with the above marked card problem. matte finish - sleeves with 'art' (and i use the term loosely) on them are actually multi layers. the art part can come off the back of the sleeve. ive seen some start to peel after 1 round of play.

So your opponents know exactly how many cards you board each game?

I use Dragon Shields never really had any issues, Ultra Pro's are awful.

I heard Dragon Shield matte sleeves were the "best," but I'm not sure since I've never used them. I just know the KMC hyper matte sleeves are blowing up (splitting) on me, and apparently, even new out of the packaging, the corners on them get damaged really easily. Apparently this was enough for me to be accused of playing with marked cards even though neither the judge nor the opponent could reliably find said "marked" cards. I ended up with a warning for some ridiculousness, but I'm kind of tired of the poor quality of the kmc hyper matte sleeves anyway.I do like the suggestion for the sideboard cards though. Thanks for that.

So whats going on guys? Ive been lurking and these discussions usually get heated/debates etc... stuff I love to read but have no experience/postability for, but I see it sort of stalls out these days. So here I am. What is everybody doing atm? I just applied to med school ;D and finished a masters in bioengineering. I also plan to apply for a PHD wherever (if) I go to med school (might do both together). Besides that, I am a mechanic and I tune cars (just tuned a 800rwhp lsx and about to tune a 3.XL V6 with a large single also) And here is my own car http://www.freshalloy.com/showthread.php/176395-Kingtal0n-s-S14-Kouki-sr20det-Project-Repair-and-Restore/page3 Thats page 3 where I just finished rebuilding the transmission. You can see all the parts inside it, I label them in one of the pictures. Kinda interesting to see stuff pulled apart! ah-ha Keep dropping lands that don't tap when they enter the battlefield

I like to tinker with cars a lil bit (mostly for maintenance), but I just have a hard time understanding the notion of dropping money for performance upgrades. I mean I get it and have been around people who tune for ****s 'n giggles, but is it really worth all the time and money for a personal vehicle you don't take to a track?

Hey, welcome back . Trading is going on quite normally as it seems, as is buying/selling. I suppose you should try it and see for yourself?

What happened to the Promo Wasteland (Tempest picture)? I had them up on Magiccardmarket as the lowest at that time, but now I see them being offered for 60,- less..__________________ I'm a geek, you're a geek. Foil EMA reprinting dropped the price I thought.

kingtal0n sick engine Didn't read (too lazy tonight lol) but is it a 240zx? I just see Nissan written in the pics but besides Skyline/TypeR , wich that engine is clearly not, my guess is an old 240zx. Anyways, congrats with your school

hey thanks. Its a 240sx, almost 20 years old. The engine is mostly original (No performance upgrades). It just happens to come with more power than what the USA is normally used to (they dont make this engine here in USA, but is still just a OEM engine from another country) so very reliable. The engine is from a Nissan Silvia S14. They are the same physical chassis so the motor fits with no modifications (5-8 hours to swap the engine/trans, very fast, everything mates up where the old engine was). OF course you can get sidetracked doing any number of infinite things while you have the engine out (from paint the car/bay to replace the engine suspension and rebuild the engine) but I prefer to keep it simple (just drop it in and go) and keep a spare on the side for the same reason (just swap it out and go). This way, the car stays driving/reliable and I only need 1 car in my name. Sorry about all the txt, I just love talking about car stuff. IF I wanted to go fast though, I wouldn't bother with one of these 4 cyls. The hot ticket these days is the 5.3L Truck LSx engine, they are even cheaper than the engine in my car, just bigger and more work to fit (not as fast to swap the engine but...) Overall the 5.3 would support over double the power output (figure 500-600 rear wheel horsepower using an $800 engine and pump gas 28+mpg), and through an automatic trans it would be almost un-drivable in the 2800lb chassis of the 240sx. but that doesn't stop anyone...

I don't know if any of you are into Standard but this is some big news.http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/news/revisiting-standard-rotation-2016-1 0-19 That was a quick reversion back to the old rotation system. Sounds like people didn't like having to buy so much product and having their cards be useless so quickly. From the chatter I have heard lots of standard FNMs have decreased dramatically after the original change and so Wizards is trying to backtrack to keep the money rolling in.

I know it was a huge reason for me not even having any interest in playing standard. Why invest in a format when I can't regularly make it to tournaments?__________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

This is ridiculous. Why bother ever changing anything then? At least the core sets gave me a needed break from Standard.

+1, it just got to be too much to keep up with and all stores in my area have had a big downturn in Standard tourney attendance across the board.
