That is not the issue and has never been the issue. Proxy tournaments were never attended as well as non-proxy tournaments. Neither are MTGO legacy the most popular events. Even though Legacy is a great format (arguably the best format), is it okay to just admit that not everyone likes the same things. In fact, sometimes people may not even like the things that are best for them.

All these things cost significant amounts of money: Renting hall space. Renting chairs/tables for hall. Paying judge staff Paying TO staff Hauling coverage equipment around the country Paying coverage staff Internet used by coverage

I believe cost of the hall space usually gets divided up by the dealers who set up to buy and sell. This may not always be true and star city may be the only dealer at their events therefore all of the event costs fall on them. Judges don't get paid cash to do events. They get paid in the form of being rewarded judge promos based on their judge level.

Yea, so your logic is they have to pay monies to host a tournament. Where's the surprise? quote: Originally posted by mm1983: I believe cost of the hall space usually gets divided up by the dealers who set up to buy and sell. They have to get paid for Wizards events now, but SCG has been paying judges anyway. They also do have other vendors and artists at their events as well.

Your previous post made it seem like you thought the only cost to run a legacy event on Sunday was the prize payout. I can't stress this enough - many people actually believe the only cost to running an event is the prize payout. I'm glad you aren't one of those people. Maybe they're dropping legacy because it doesn't pay for itself. Maybe they're dropping legacy because it is more profitable to run a second standard/modern event on Sundays. Maybe both those reasons are true. It sucks for legacy players but it isn't SCG's 'fault' that the dollars aren't in legacy.

Unfortunately local stores don't support legacy enough or at all for people to want to get into legacy. Stores know the money is in new product and modern because that's where the majority of the player base is. 90% of legacy cards rise in value just simple due to the age of the card itself. When people don't play the format it simply becomes a collectors game. It's only now that wizards is trying to show support for the old formats through printing expedition and invention cards into new sets but even still most people are selling those cards or trying to trade them for standard and modern cards.

Wow, nothing in Magic Discussion for 13 days. Guess I'll just talk to myself in here...If anyone is still around and wants to spend some money, I'm looking to get out of Magic altogether. My collection is conservatively worth about $50k, but I'll take $35k just to unload it all at once.

Wow, a little late on this one, but BFZ block has three of the four worst rated mechanics of all time. It even managed to have one surpas megamorph to claim the 'worst' title.http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/making-magic/storm-scale-zendikar-and-battle-zendikar-2016-11-21 "Only cohort, converge, and megamorph score lower than support."

Man..... The new promo boardwipe in Aether Revolt is insane! -3/-3 for all + ancestral visions for free or in standard lili for freeI need 100000000x Edit: actual card text/name Yahenni's Expertise 2BB Sorcery (R) All creatures get -3/-3 until end of turn. You may cast a card with converted mana cost 3 or less from your hand without paying its mana cost.

Yeah, this seems very broken from a power level perspective. Probably would have been very playable if the free spell was just "scry 2".

Scrap Trawler seems very broken for Vintage. Turn 1 play with a Mishra's workshop or possible every turn playing a Black Lotus from the graveyard by sacrificing 1 or 2 cost artifacts.

If you want to sell stuff, just go to TCG Player. Trying to sell stuff on MTG Salvation is just as bad as it is here. I would argue ever since they had the site switch over to their Curse overlords, selling cards is easier here than there. __________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. While I have made more sales there than here over the last year, it is hardly enough to recommend it, I've done far better on Deckbox. That being said if you are looking to move a lot quickly TCG and Ebay are your best routes in spite all the fees.
