My job calls for extensive extra hours at times. My boss has been very good about adjusting schedules to deal with the odd schedule we all sometimes have to work by offering a sliding start to the work day. This has been great, especially if I'm coming off one of those awesome 12+ hour days.

This only started after we discussed it though. Without at least mentioning it, you'll never know if they actually expect you to show up the day after you've been traveling for hours on end.
