My favorite had to be helping those that had gotten ripped off by bad traders. It was a nice feeling to get someone their cards back or some other type of satisfaction. I also remember all the conversations we had in the gen forums (I am thinking about you Squirrel, Iakae, Serra, and a few others!). I went to the Bad Trader forum after Shadowizar. He did handle them himself for awhile as did I. I also remember the move to the new site. I used to have the old bookmarked, but it has since been lost.
I'd vote for you you old geezer =P awards post in the gd this time almost every yr.. it brings out all the old ppl.. the list of former mods who've posted these last 2 pages is absolutely astounding >.< © __________________ Since it is obviously inconceivable that all religions can be right, the most reasonable conclusion is that they are all wrong. -Christopher HitchensReligion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful. -Seneca the Younger

I remember you, although, not as a mod. Note 1: Reminder, this is tonight. Note 2: For anyone who's more clever than I or might have kept this on file (for some reason): Here's the scoop. Each year, I list previous winners of the awards. To do this (my memory's not that good), I dig up the old posts and make a list. The awards, 2003-2008, are archived. Those winners can easily be found. The 2010 Awards haven't fallen into the void yet, so I've got those. However, the 2009 Awards have fallen into the void, and aren't archived. What's more, 2002's awards vanished long ago... my strategy for keeping these (& others) was to use each years' previous balloting post to copy the previous years' list, and 'til 2008 this worked great. Not so lucky anymore, seeing as though none of the posts with previous winners are anywhere to be found on the forums, they've long since been deleted too. I've tried Wayback Machine, and haven't had any luck finding any of those old threads. ...Is there any way in hell I'm getting either of these lists of winners? EDIT: Upon reading 2003's post in the archive, I said all of 2002's winners in there. Just need '09 & we'll be set. EDIT 2: Even funnier is Google's cache which has Page 2 Saved, but nothing else. __________________ Forum signatures: all the wisdom of a cereal box with none of the sugar! This made me smile Good to see all the old mods ironically show up out of the blue like this. Guess old habits ARE hard to break eh?

Okay, so some highlights from last night:1) Nominee selection was successful in every category except rookie of the year. Gonna open it up to the general populace, if you know a new member in 2012 who has had some significant contribution to discussion on the forums, pipe up. We aren't nameless in this category, but accepting suggestions. 2) I was unable to secure a copy of the '09 award winners. Through some sigs and that second page I linked above, I was able to discern a few, but many categories are unrepresented for that year. For that reason (and for simplicity reasons), when I list past champions in the vote post, it won't be chronologically; I'll just name who's won, how many times, and who's defending. I do have specific years as info if you want it, but you can also go look it up. 3) It got late by the end of things (I logged at about 2:30 AM my time, 1 AM ET), so we cut a little short. I suggested (and a couple agreed) that these awards are, and always have been, General Discussion heavy. We incorporate Magic Discussion a little bit, but if anyone wants to go through the rigors of suggesting a non GD award (ideas I bounced: most aesthetic H/W or sale list, best Deckbuilding advice, etc.) with three nominees and links to examples of their posting, I will certainly consider adding it. It'd be nice to be a little more all-encompassing. It's going to be a couple days bare minimum before I type a post and open voting, so you've got that much time forsure. If none of the above apply to you, hold tight and voting will open in the near future. __________________ Forum signatures: all the wisdom of a cereal box with none of the sugar! It will be explained in the nomination page. It was a new award 3/4 years ago and there have been only 2 winners so far (ryan and me). TBH, I think it goes to a recognizable new member, and somehow I won. __________________ <Liq> you just can't expect a sig worthy line to appear out of nowhere on demand <stacker> i dont hang out with the patients afterwards, we got nurses for that "Basically, if you ever find yourself daisy-chaining multiple dongles together, you must be doing pretty well in life."

News to me. I thought I was just the one that kind of spearheaded the idea... __________________ -Schmitty 84th in Refs [293] on MOTL (2 behind gamma_1) 2nd in Refs [293] in OH-IO (68 behind souladvocate) 2nd in Posts [7801] in OH-IO (only 300 behind Val) “If Brad Stevens is the future of coaching in college basketball, the sport is in a good place.” - Rick Pitino

I will be at about 30 refs in less then 2 months (29 as of right now once trades are received and sent) of trading here that worth anything for a rookie?I know my date registered says 2005, but my first post and trade was from November, I made an account long ago and didn't do anything, then when I went to make an account last month said I had an account already... :-D

The rookie award has a lot more to do with general contribution than just trading and references.

ha ha I love this....

yeah that must have been a depressing year for me ha ha. Actually my presence here is pretty sporadic so I don't expect nominations for anything. Its fun to see other people win though. Btw GLE you'll be happy to know that I know the 2009 results....I won everything....except for Homer Simpson - ron won that one. You may now proceed with tallying the results. __________________ |My Angels~My P9 l""|"\__, |~~My #1 Angel~~l'_|'_|_|) |(@)(@)""***|(@)(@)**|(@)
