It's not out of the realm of possibilities that you didn't get all the rares in one box, but it is HIGHLY unlikely you completed a set. How do I know this? Well, I too have opened a box and gotten every rare from the set multiple times. This does happen...from time to time. It's something that is unusual, but what happens is the sorter messes up and usually throws rares into your uncommon slot in packs. I've had this happen in 2 boxes in my lifetime. Once all the way back in Urza's Legacy, and most recently in Ahmonket. Again, not something that's common....HIGHLY unlikely. I've opened thousands of boxes of MTG over the years...it's happened twice.

With the Ahmonket box, since they added the "mythic rare" slot I actually got this layout. Rare was still a rare or mythic as usual, but my uncommon 1 slot was always a mythic, and my other 2 uncommon slots were either rare/mythic. I got as many as 4 mythics in one pack....I SHOULD have video taped the box opening when I realized what was going on, but I do have witnesses FWIW. Now...the trick is, I got every rare and mythic to complete a set, but I got ZERO uncommons in my box. Not complaining when I opened 7 Hazoret's when it was the best card in STD...but yea, I could not complete a set.

But your story isnt unheard of, many weird packing and printing errors have happned throughout MTG's history...it's cool when it happens to you bc you have a very unique story.

EDIT: here is the actual story for me....

My buddy Justin owns a LCS. He mostly sells sports cards, but always has a few boxes of MTG and Pokemon for the kids. A few guys would regularly stop in to buy MTG so when a new set came out he would always buy 1 case(6boxes) to have for them. I'd always stop before gonig to draft and get packs off him. At this point I no longer played competitive MTG, just drafting for fun. So I show up and Justin is like, "hey...this is the last box I got left. BTW, nobody has hit one of those "treasures" yet" So I'm like...well what do you want for the box? He goes, just gimme my cost bc then I can move on to the next set since it's the last of my stock. So I paid $63 or something of that nature, and proceded to open the box to see if I could hit the 1 per case special(whatever they were called in Ahmonket I do not remember)....So I start to open the box pack by pack and see this weird anomaly with the uncommons being all rares and mythics. I took all the cards to my friends and filled out their playsets, just gave em all away, and what was left I gave to Stu55(my other friend and member of this website)....but I didn't get one of those special cards lol! Nor did I get any uncommons in my box.

EDIT2: the other time in my life wasn't nearly as fun...I opened a Urza's Legacy box way back in the day when it was the new set and in every pack I opened a FOIL card in place of an uncommon. It was either rare/uncommon/common...kinda cool, but I don't remember getting anything big back then, or even to this day other than I think I got 3 foil Crop Rotations out of that box.

Considering that this experience was over twenty years ago, it is very likely that my memory of the experience is messed up.

(edit)I think your assessment of it would be what likely happened.

I do recall a check list, I remember everyone gathering around me because the store manager had checked my cards and confirmed it. I remember two people offering me cash for the cards and there was a bidding war which I turned it down. I remember the final card I found, I think it was called Leviathan?

One of my high school friends had his father open up a gaming store near my house. I used to purchase a pallet of cards from him, which is why I had so many cards in my collection. It really was a disease. I used to spend all day sorting through my cards and trying to make perfect decks. I'm glad I got out of it and I am glad I made a little profit.

I am sad that I didn't see the growth of the game. My friend who owns Cool Stuff Inc was the genius. He saw what was going on and what people were willing to pay for cards.

He got the bright idea that if people wanted out of Magic they could send in their cards for store credit.

When I visited the store one time he took me on a tour of the backroom. He had (and I kid you not) he had millions and millions of cards. Racks upon racks of cards, six or seven feet high.
