Trade auctions just aren't what they used to be ten years ago. Move along and stop bidding on them if you do not want to be disappointed.

This is about someone putting out an auction with a minimum bid for something, then closing the auction even tho the minimum has been met, just because they don't like the bids..... If they wanted someone to just use the buy out, then they need to just post it as for trade with points list.

A sales acution is different from a trade auction by the very definition. A sale that can't go through would have notification, not just obfuscation, by deleting the thread. If they never intended to accept the minimum that they set in the first place, they should not have listed it. If there isn't much more than the minimum offered, that's the risk they take, and if they can't handle that, then they should have posted their minimums higher, or never have posted it in the first place. It's downright dishonest to say to someone, I would trade X for at least Y value, and I set the list of stuff I want, the prices for the stuff I want, AND if you don't offer me what I like from my want list I still won't trade it to you.

How ****ed off would you be if someone posted a trade to you for a bunch of low end stuff that you had to dig through boxes to find, for say an hour to find it all, and then once you had gone through all that effort, just says, nah you didn't offer me enough. Can you see how being disingenuous like that would get some people upset?

Just because you don't like how they work doesn't mean that they shouldn't be allowed. It just means that they might not be the right trading format for you.

Are you implying that people who have posted buy or sell lists have never ignored offers and deleted their threads? I'm pretty sure that happens from time to time.

I have pulled a stack of cards from a trade offer many times only to not have the deal go through for one reason or another. It happens. It's no fun, but regardless of what format of trade you use, it's almost guaranteed to happen.

If something on here is not within the control of the admins, why should it stay? Something that obviously makes people feel cheated, or the auctioneer seem shady already has a strike against it. The ability to walk away is just fine, but not in an auction. An auction by it's nature releases control over the result. I mean come on. they set the cards, the prices for the cards, and the minimum bid. If they don't like the terms, they shouldn't have set them that way. The burden of fairness lies with the one that starts the auction to set things properly from the beginning (barring a typo), and then honoring their word once the auction has passed a certain threshold.

I fail to see how deleting a trade auction thread is any different at all from deleting a sell list where both have offers meeting the request. In both cases, the exact same facts exist - someone has offered something for a value which has been offered, and someone has offered that value. The format that this has been done is completely irrelevant to whether it's okay to ignore. There isn't something magical about trade auction threads that makes them different from other forms of transactions. If you think that we can't allow trade auctions because we don't have the ability to make sure people aren't deleting threads to avoid making a deal then we can't allow any trade or buy/sell threads at all, because someone might delete a thread.
