Really? I've mostly heard it (and, I suppose, consequently, pronounce it) "EM-ruh-cull".quote: Originally posted by yakusoku: I'm surprised that no one has mentioned "phthisis" as one of the all time cards for mangled pronunciation.
Heh. I was never really sure how to pronounce that one, but turns out I was pretty close (for those that don't know, it's "THY-siss"...first syllable soft, like "Thanos", not like "They").Here's another one I'm still not sure about: Garruk. I pronounce it "GARE-ruck" (rhymes with "barrack"). I hear that one a lot, and the other one I hear a lot is "Guh-RUKE", which I think is less likely to be correct. Does anyone have a source on how to pronounce his name?

No source, but I rhyme it with "barrack." Even if WOTC says it should be "Guh-RUKE", I refuse to say it that way.

When i was over in Seattle in 95 there was a cardshop that had players who would ask for a Scrye, meaning Scrye magazine, to look up prices. They pronounced it "SKREE" instead of "SCRY" which i still find funny

Another English word a lot of people seem to get wrong is harbinger. It's not HAHR-bring-er. It's not hahr-BING-er. It's HAHR-bin-jer. -Caitiri __________________ Dark Ritual count: 799

You spelled it wrong.... There's no 'r' after the 'b'. A lot of people think there is, hence the mispronunciation. -Caitiri __________________ Dark Ritual count: 799

How do you say "Nacatl"? This one has stumped me since the card was printed.

I say "NAW-CAW-TIL". I just remembered one of the most annoying mispronuciations that I heard my multiple people: "I ENVELOPE your Roar of the Wurm." "What does that even mean?" "You know, you put it an envelope, seal it, put a stamp on it and mail it. It's gone and sent away to another place."

Haha, we purposely mispronounce this card b/c it's dumb.EDIT:Envelop/EDIT I don't remember why, but this card cost me to lose a game once, that I actually had my friend remove it from its sleeve and sharpie sign it for me. It now sits in my trade binder. ~MM __________________ I am MeddlingMage...YOUR Motl Survivor 11 Champion and 2007 Captain N award winner.MafiaBass (9:48:50 PM): sorry my keyboard is sticky MeddlingEric (9:48:56 PM): ewwww MafiaBass (9:51:43 PM): FTR, I did not show you my e-pee-pee New keeper of the Logout button
