I think the subject says it all. Is it really worth one's time and money to advertise stating you are selling magic card sales, buying magic singles, and//or list a coupon for discounts on cards you are selling in the classified ads or our college newspapers? Any advice is appreciated! edit:::: this is a written copy on an actual paper advertisement that is not online.

I've tried selling locally on Kijiji with little success. Calgary, AB, Canada population ~1070000. I was able to sell a 'Goyf below market value but I didn't get any buyers when selling a few hot T2 pieces slightly under SCG prices.

craigslist is free. pay to advertise only if you're a store.

As far as classified ads are concerned, I agree. Most people reading them won't be looking for magic cards. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!

Kijiji/Craigslist. Don't waste money advertising when you can do it for free.

thanks for the advice everyone! my main concern is the fact that I do not have any real internet access in the area where I live + the fact that I do not have any way to access my store's website as an administrator to revamp it. Honestly, I have been stumped due to really almost no skills on how to design websites in general and thought that printed media in an area with 2 major universities would be more likely to attract customers, as well as possibly including a coupon on the ad. I checked into the local classified ads and thought about listing that I buy // sell Magic cards in the collectibles section, but am still hesitant on whether to pay the $61.00 to cover a 4 week long advertisement there. I am still open to advice, especially from anyone that has either done publicity for a local game store or had advertising experience in non-internet media sources in the past.__________________ #2 in References in VirginiaOfficial Magic Dealer for Fun-N-Games in Blacksburg, VA Live in WV, near Blacksburg or Roanoke, VA? A good way to advertise a game store is the good old fashioned way -- posters, make yourself some little attractive posters (reglar old 8x11 works fine), and put them up tastefully around the campus and places where gamers are likely to frequent.

@ jshields:I'm currently majoring in Computer Science and know a fair amount about web design/security. If you'd be interested in having me develop or update your store's site send me an email and we can work something out. I'd probably be ok with getting compensation in cards instead of cash.

I'd say in a college paper it's likely worth advertising to buy, but not to sell. $60 seems crazy high though. I don't see how you can come out ahead on that.
