4-Card Blind (4CB) is a very unique game.
The rules are as follows:

* Your deck is composed of 4 cards, all of which start in your hand.
* You have no library (technically, the library exists, but starts at 0 cards) and no sideboard (Wishes fetch nothing).
* Random effects always go against the owner of the card.
* You can see your opponent's hand, so you can always make the best possible play.
* You don't lose as a result of not being able to draw a card.
* You will play each opponent twice, once going first, once going second.
* For each win, you score 3.
* For each draw, you score 1.
* For each loss, you get nothing.
* A subgame played with the card Shahrazad will result in an incomplete game and both players will receive ZERO points, since the main game cannot be resumed. Neither player loses or draws, so neither player earns any points.
* Other than the aforementioned, EVERYTHING IS HANDLED EXACTLY LIKE A REAL GAME OF MAGIC!
Remember, it is important for your deck to include a way to cast your cards! (Lands, artifact mana, pitch cards, etc.)

Please make every effort to spell your card names correctly. It makes it easier for everyone. Thanks.
The "Vanishing" part is the twist. To start off with, only Unglued, Unhinged and Ante cards are banned. After each round, the 4 cards in the winning deck plus any cards in more than 1/3 of the decks played will be banned for all future rounds. Any lands that only provide mana are exempted from the banning rules.

I will try and post a new round every Monday, allow submissions through Wednesday, reveal deck lists first thing on Thursday and review results posted over the weekend.

NO MISE DECKS!

Any deck submitted MUST have some win condition. Any deck that can do no better than a draw against any possible deck will be rejected. A deck that can't win any game is mathematically eliminated from winning the round, and thus would just be taking a chance to win away from someone who could actually have a shot.

ALL players will assist in judging. The way this will work is that after the submission period is over, After all decks are revealed, judge your own deck against every other deck (going first and going second). Post your findings here in this thread. They will be reviewed by everyone for accuracy. Once a winner is determined the winners deck will be added to the banned list and the next round will begin. Repeated failure to do your own scoring will result in suspensions!

It is safe to say I have the most interesting and horrible deck in this round. For me to win, I need to first lose.

well...i guess so much for that deck...plan B time...so depresing since if it were legal it would have wrecked...also the deck of island,island,island,island coudn't be played since it can't win. mine could win if the opponent even trys to win at all...sumbited different deck any way

edit: eh i found a way to make it work now...maybe next week

That may be true, but if the opponent's optimal play is just not to play lands and that forces a draw, then they can just do that. Both players MUST play optimally in order to determine who wins each round. If someone's optimal play is to play for the draw by not playing anything, then that is their optimal play...

I'm curious to see what you've come up with. Can't wait til next week :-)

Mine's not very creative at all, unfortunately... It is a wrecking ball, though ;-)

I already explained this via PMs, but it would NOT have wrecked even if I allowed it.

The point isn't that you can't beat Island, Island, Island, Island, a deck with no win condition, but that you can't beat ANY deck, including Island x4.dec.

Both players are playing to get a draw rather than a loss and a win rather than a draw.

So, everyone, knowing exactly what you have and how your deck works would not play any cards. You have NO way of even casting your win condition if your opponent sits there and does nothing, which is exactly what your opponent will do, rather than play something and hand you a win.

In the days of V3CB, the deck {Foil, Island, Nether Spirit} was also an illegal deck. It would beat a lot of decks IF their opponent was foolish enough to play a spell and get it countered by Foil, but if an opponent simply did nothing, FINS couldn't win either. So, the optimal play for every deck vs. FINS was to sit there and do nothing. It is not possible to win a tournament with FINS or similar decks, only force ties.

Compare FINS with this V4CB deck:

Nether Spirit

DAFINS, on the other hand, can play Dryad Arbor and beat a player who does nothing, by attacking 20 times. If your opponent plays a spell, you can Foil that spell and get your Nether Spirit onto the battlefield. DAFINS beats Islandsx4. DAFINS even beats FINS in a head to head matchup.


Also...

The decklists have been posted.

You may use other formats as well, but this one is a must. Also PLEASE make sure you use the proper deck

number for your deck. Replace the '?' on the bottom line with the number next to your name on the

decklist.

Scoring:

Play your deck against each other deck twice, once with you going first, once with them going first.

Always remember that each deck is to be played perfectly.

For each of the 2 games, score 3 points if your deck wins or 1 point if the game is a draw, with no

points for a loss.

Some examples:
2 wins (WW) is 6 points.
A win and a draw (WD) is 4 points.
A win and a loss (WL) is 3 points.
2 draws (DD) is 2 points.
A draw and a loss (DL) is 1 point.
2 losses (LL) is 0 points.

Plug YOUR deck number into the ? below the ##, and your score against each deck into the other slots.

6. junichi WW. He can survive once, but after that, he can't recover after I make him lose two permanents a turn.

If he sacs the land, he slows himself down and can't play RtA. If he sacs the Leyline, his creatures are too small and he can't hope to block and kill or race. I don't see any option here to even force a draw.

9. Battle_of_Twits LL. I'm far too slow against this.

10. WCFmo LL. Reef Shaman turns my City into an Island and I can't do anything.

11. Myy WL. On the draw, I'm a turn too slow as he attacks with both into me, losing one, but killing me. On the play, I'm a turn too fast for him, as he can't attack into me with both, and when I attack back, he has to lose his land and a creature.

8. Numotflame96 - On the draw, he can play 2nd turn Foundry. Then I kill Academy. He can make a single 1/1 but it dies to Guildmage. WW

9. Battle_of_Twits - Boom/Bust keeps him off his 2 lands. WW

10. WCFmo - On the draw, he plays turn 1 Mother. I play Guildmage. He plays Shaman. On my turn I do nothing. On his upkeep, I ping Mother. He protects it. On my next upkeep, I ping it again, then proceed to kill Shaman and Apprentice. WW

i make a hell of a lot more tokens than him and faster. no chance for him here

2. yakusoku -WL
on the play i can have 7 tokens before he can attack with crusher, giving me plenty of things to sacrifice, block with and make even more tokens. on the draw he attacks while i have 1 token and can't make enough to stop him.

3. mattw - WW
he can force me to discard sword of the meek on the draw, but i can just sacthe den to bring it back and make more tokens. i can keep making tokens to make to keep up with the life loss from the stabwiskers.

Gaze of justice is failry erelevant since it comes cown only after i have 7 tokens. i out number his token too.

btw, Yak, when you're on the play, you beat me. i get stuck on 2 tokens, that i have to sac over and over again. i gain 2 life to each 8 i lose. only on the draw do i get enogh tokens to stop crusher.

You have to sac non-token permanents to activate Foundry... You can't block and sac. Does that change your scores?

which match are you refering to?
i don't think i ran in to that possition anytime during my scoring.
everygame it was either i get my tokens going or my land/permanents get killed and i can't.

in refence to the match vs Yak, on the play i have 7 tokens, giving me 2 to sacrifice, 1 to chum,p block, an i'm left with 7 artifatcs for the next turn, meaning i make 9 more tokens next turn, and i have 11 tokens the next turn so i can just kill crusher. on the draw i just get anihilated to death

Edit: i think you misinterpretaed what i said there. i can make to tokens each turn from thopterfoundry and sword, but i have to sac 2 tokens each turn to ulamog's anihilator. either way i lose on the draw so its somewhat irrelevant

Yeah, I did misinterpret. I went through and couldn't see any scores that it actually changes, though. Nice innovation on the deck, though! We had been playing it as Swamp + Island + Sword + Foundry. Tolarian Academy is a huge improvement over that!
