I guess we should get things going by talking about the wizards announcement of Commander.

Discussion has already been going The name change is not a huge deal. I tend to agree that most of those experienced in the format will stick with calling it EDH. The name doesn't change the functionality, especially since it's been Commander on MTGO for some time already. I'll reserve judgment on the precons until we actually see some lists. If the spoiled one is any indication, most of them will probably be too expensive to be serious commander options. I'll be interested to see if I get a better UBG option than Vorosh. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!

Well the one general they spoiled seems pretty good. It will be a good replacement for my Doran which is already reanimation based.

I really see more merit it using Teneb in that color combination. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!

not sure how anyone can play reanimation based decks in EDH. The GY hate in our circle is beyond ridiculous sometimes. It likely stems from my Revillark use. For some reason when you use things like body double, karmic guide, spike weaver, and glen elendra archmage, people don't like soft locks. Its a good way to fight annihilator when you just sac your whole team when they attack and it all just comes back, lol.

Wish I had this problem, one kid in my just packs 15% of his decks with enchantment/artifact hate. __________________ 2nd Most References in Massachusetts (Moving pays off I guess.)My Blog: http://wings0298.blogspot.com/

That really isn't too surprising - your deck should be prepared for any sort of eventuality. I have 3-5 cards for graveyard hate alone (Faerie Macabre, Bojuka Bog, Relic of Progenitus off the top of my head). Speaking of Scars Sealed, I'm going to a PTQ on Saturday, and the format is Scars Sealed with T8 drafting. Any suggestions for the sealed format, aside from general sealed advice? Finally - a card store near me has LOADS of old sealed product, including an old favorite - Onslaught Tournament packs! I forgot that these (and old old precons) used to come with survey sheets to fill out and mail back. If I fill out an Onslaught one, do you think Wizards will get it? I'll keep you guys updated edit: Here is the survey, filled out. Sorry for the terrible quality, it's my webcam. Pic related, it's the survey!

Yeah i might go to Santa Clara as well, depends on if I can get a ride. Ive never done a limited ptq. Is it just Scars or do they fill in with core sets? And where is a good place to find general sealed advice?

I run a Doran deck (treefolk, obv.) and would be interested in seeing your deck list. It seems a bit odd to use Doran just for reanimation when... quote: Originally posted by iccarus: I really see more merit it using Teneb in that color combination.
makes so much more sense. I'm pretty interested to see what the other "wedge" legends are along with the other 40ish new cards. I do like the idea of giving everyone but one player a 5/5 flying dragon. Pretty fun way to bite your thumb at one person . Not sure I will buy any of the precons, as I probably already have most of the cards that will be included. I do hope that KEN and team went with interesting builds and not just auto includes like Sol Ring, Top, Greaves etc. Sure, it would be nice to make those cards more widely available but a little creativity from up high would be nice to see.

I've found most of the dragons like teneb to be fairly ineffective because they never seem to get through. I really wanted to build a fun Intet deck, but the prospect of playing with a bunch of cards that can manipulate the top of my deck and a bunch of over-costed spells while my general just got killed didn't seem all that fun.

Haha, I'm actually going to a PTQ in Philly. Funny coincidence. A good place to find general sealed advice would be searching sites like StarCityGames and ChannelFireball. Some things I learned: -Always have a sideboard that includes a drastic change in gameplan (like shifting from Esper to Bant in Shards). -Always keep extra basics of each type on you, you'll never know when you'll want that other color. -Crappy pools can beat good pools, you just have to play better. There's more but I can't think of it :/

Only 3 people for EDH night (including me). Boooooo Does anyone play commander on MODO? Is it pretty easy to get games going and do people actually play them out? Or do you get a lot of people quitting at the point someone makes even a semi-broken play? __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!

well I've only played a few games of commander online. I built a deck from leftover draft jank, but it has a few cute tricks in it. The general is terrible tho. From what I've seen people will just randomly leave for no reason on occasions. Other times you get to play everything out. As with normal EDH, it doesn't matter how broken your deck/combo, there are all kinds of answers, so most people don't leave because of that. I've ran into quite a few decks as bad as mine, even some worse. I have seen a few good ones as well.If you're really that curious tho, just go to the multiplayer room and you can see the games in progress and such. You can even sit in on them and watch what people are playing and the likes. Its what I did before I even bothered to put something together.

A friend wishes to sell his MTGO account with about 4k random uncommons/commons on it. He's already sold basically anything with value on it already. Is $5 too low for it? __________________ <Jazaray> LIQ! <Jazaray> you broke MOTL <Liq> totally <BoltBait> Don't make me kick you <Slinga> Have no fear, MOTL's janitor is here! <nderdog> So we're all agreed, it's Liq's fault, right? <Leshrac> let me deal with that * Liq has been banned

I actually only picked Doran for his colors, we play very casual EDH so it isn't a big deal. We try to stray away from combos that lock out the whole board/instant win unless it is the only way a victory is possible. I'll put you up a list some time. Also I agree Teneb would be much better I just didn't have access to him when I built the deck and didn't feel like finding him.

So, it is confirmed that Survival gets banned in legacy?http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/twtw/119 The banned and restricted announcement will go up on December 20 as usual—after Worlds. If any player is going to come up with a strategy to beat the Survival of the Fittest decks that have been dominating the format then the Team Competition may be the last chance that they get to do so before it is defeated through legislation.

If there are complete playsets of commons in there, you might get a bit more. Players starting in pauper might want them.
