4-Card Blind (4CB) is a very unique game.
The rules are as follows:
* Your deck is composed of 4 cards, all of which start in your hand.
* You have no library (technically, the library exists, but starts at 0 cards) and no sideboard (Wishes fetch nothing).
* Random effects always go against the owner of the card.
* You can see your opponent's hand, so you can always make the best possible play.
* You don't lose as a result of not being able to draw a card.
* You will play each opponent twice, once going first, once going second.
* For each win, you score 3.
* For each draw, you score 1.
* For each loss, you get nothing.
* A subgame played with the card Shahrazad will result in an incomplete game and both players will receive ZERO points, since the main game cannot be resumed. Neither player loses or draws, so neither player earns any points.
* Other than the aforementioned, EVERYTHING IS HANDLED EXACTLY LIKE A REAL GAME OF MAGIC!
Remember, it is important for your deck to include a way to cast your cards! (Lands, artifact mana, pitch cards, etc.)

The "Vanishing" part is the twist. To start off with, only Unglued, Unhinged and Ante cards are banned. After each round, the 4 cards in the winning deck plus any cards in more than 1/3 of the decks played will be banned for all future rounds. Any lands that only provide mana are exempted from the banning rules.

I will try and post a new round every Monday, allow submissions through Wednesday, reveal deck lists first thing on Thursday and review results posted over the weekend.

NO MISE DECKS!

Any deck submitted MUST have some win condition. Any deck that can do no better than a draw against any possible deck will be rejected. A deck that can't win any game is mathematically eliminated from winning the round, and thus would just be taking a chance to win away from someone who could actually have a shot.

ALL players will assist in judging. The way this will work is that after the submission period is over, After all decks are revealed, judge your own deck against every other deck (going first and going second). Post your findings here in this thread. They will be reviewed by everyone for accuracy. Once a winner is determined the winners deck will be added to the banned list and the next round will begin. Repeated failure to do your own scoring will result in suspensions!

It doesn't have an effect on the outcome of last round, but my justification is correct for me vs. MAB, for future reference. If I don't play anything, he has to pop the tomb and the rest of his lands to try and win, and I have enough time to play both the apprentice and mother before the token would kill me. I then tap his token down during his turn and attack with mother until he dies, so the optimal play is for us to stare.

I haven't been able to post a reply to this thread until today. Sorry for the lack of warning. For next round, I think I have a fix to that problem.

The decklists have been posted.

You may use other formats as well, but this one is a must. Also PLEASE make sure you use the proper deck number for your deck. Replace the '?' on the bottom line with the number next to your name on the decklist.

Scoring:

Play your deck against each other deck twice, once with you going first, once with them going first.

Always remember that each deck is to be played perfectly.

For each of the 2 games, score 3 points if your deck wins or 1 point if the game is a draw, with no

points for a loss.

Some examples:
2 wins (WW) is 6 points.
A win and a draw (WD) is 4 points.
A win and a loss (WL) is 3 points.
2 draws (DD) is 2 points.
A draw and a loss (DL) is 1 point.
2 losses (LL) is 0 points.

Plug YOUR deck number into the ? below the ##, and your score against each deck into the other

slots.

Do not play your deck against itself. Just enter an 'x' in the chart under your deck number.

Not quite. I play something on my turn you know, Reef Shaman. You have to kill it to play your win condition or you can kill my land. You kill my land I keep turning your land into an island/mountain/forest/etc, if you kill reef shaman then I just play Stormscape and then pognify him and I win.

Nope. On play, I play Shaman, I turn your Peat Bog into an island/whatever and kill you w/ a 1/1 or turn it into a 3/3 with Pongify. On draw, I still play Shaman, you get to cast either Royal Assassin or Lich. If you cast Lich, I can just tap him down with stormscape and you will never be able to play assassin b/c of Shaman. If you play Assassin I turn him into a 3/3 Ape and tap him w/ Stormscape Apprentice and keep you from playing Lich w/ Reef Shaman.

Edit - on play coinmagic vindicates the first land you play and you can't do anything b/c all your stuff costs 3 and at best you'll have only 2 mana. On draw you play Peat Bog he plays his Bog. If you Play Lich you will get 2 for 1'd as he will vindicate the Artifact Land -

"When you control no permanents with phylactery counters on them, sacrifice Phylactery Lich." If you play Assassin he either can vindicate your land preventing you from playing Lich or he vindicates assassin (he doesn't want to play Hollow yet, trust me). Either way you guys stare w/ your 1/1 and his 2/2 b/c if he attacks you can destroy his creature, if you attack he destroys your creature.

Yes, except I Vindicate your Vault and Lich dies... So instead you play Assassin and we stare. Then, if I kill Assassin, your Lich wins, so we just sit and look at each other...

On WCFmo's play:
WCFmo plays land + Shaman. BoT plays Hangar. WCFmo attacks to 19 then plays Pongify to race faster. BoT gets 1 counter. WCFmo attacks to 16 and plays Apprentice, BoT 2 counters. Then 12-3, 8-4, 4-5. WCFmo attacks BoT to death.

On BoT's play, the same situation ends with BoT playing Consume the Meek to win. If WCFmo doesn't play Shaman, then Nightstalker comes into play and kills the Pongify token and wins.

What am I missing?

There are about a dozen situations actually, that's why I just gave up on it. I play nothing, he plays mindslicer I can play both stormscape and then pognify him making him lose his hand and then drawing. If he plays his sac dude I play stormscape and tap him down ...

IDK. I just kinda gave up, though there are arguments for me losing, they are arguments for us drawing.

True, I never think about the "what if I play nothing" plays :-P It doesn't matter to me if we leave this one DD since you and BoT both scored it that way, but it's fun to figure out how it would play out, in my opinion...

WCFmo's play: Race with Pongify, as I described above. Nothing BoT does it fast enough. That's a Win for WCFmo.

BoT's play: WCFmo's actions determine how this plays out.
Option 1 - WCFmo races with Pongify but is 1 turn too slow (see above post). This ends in Win for BoT.

Option 2 - WCFmo does nothing until BoT plays stuff. Eventually BoT has infinite mana. On his turn, he plays Nightstalker + Mindslicer. If WCFmo Pongifies the Mindslicer, he loses his Apprentice. If he plays Apprentice on his next turn, it dies to Consume. This ends in Win for BoT.

Option 3 - WCFmo plays Shaman and then does nothing. Eventually BoT has infinite mana. At the end of one of WCFmo's turns, he plays Consume and kills Shaman. Then, he untaps and plays both creatures. Apprentice can only stop 1, and Pongify gives another creature to attack with. This ends in Win for BoT.

Option 4 - WCFmo plays Shaman then Apprentice. He loses to Consume. This is a Win for BoT.

Option 5 - WCFmo plays Apprentice first. This does nothing and he loses to Nightstalker. This is a Win for BoT.

Option 6 to infinite - ???

I've got nothing else to do on my day off, so might as well play with some Magic puzzles :-P

mattw has this as WW, I scored this as WW for Magic1264. Magic1264 can race Priest of Gix with Oona's Prolwer alone, discarding Exhume and Angel.

mattw has this as WL, Elves has this as LL for him. On the play, ElvesFTW can play a turn two Lich and beat mattw

2 vs. 5

I have this as WL, Elves has this as LL. On his play, I can't Mind Twist away his hand, and I lose to Lich.

I maked it as a WL for Numot, Elves has this as a LL. On the play, Elves is too fast and gets out Lich. It takes too many turns for Numot to level up GDA.
