4-Card Blind (4CB) is a very unique game.
The rules are as follows:
* Your deck is composed of 4 cards, all of which start in your hand.
* You have no library (technically, the library exists, but starts at 0 cards) and no sideboard (Wishes fetch nothing).
* Random effects always go against the owner of the card.
* You can see your opponent's hand, so you can always make the best possible play.
* You don't lose as a result of not being able to draw a card.
* You will play each opponent twice, once going first, once going second.
* For each win, you score 3.
* For each draw, you score 1.
* For each loss, you get nothing.
* A subgame played with the card Shahrazad will result in an incomplete game and both players will receive ZERO points, since the main game cannot be resumed. Neither player loses or draws, so neither player earns any points.
* Other than the aforementioned, EVERYTHING IS HANDLED EXACTLY LIKE A REAL GAME OF MAGIC!
Remember, it is important for your deck to include a way to cast your cards! (Lands, artifact mana, pitch cards, etc.)

The "Vanishing" part is the twist. To start off with, only Unglued, Unhinged and Ante cards are banned. After each round, the 4 cards in the winning deck plus any cards in more than 1/3 of the decks played will be banned for all future rounds. Any lands that only provide mana are exempted from the banning rules.

I will try and post a new round every Monday, allow submissions through Wednesday, reveal deck lists first thing on Thursday and review results posted over the weekend.

NO MISE DECKS!

Any deck submitted MUST have some win condition. Any deck that can do no better than a draw against any possible deck will be rejected. A deck that can't win any game is mathematically eliminated from winning the round, and thus would just be taking a chance to win away from someone who could actually have a shot.

ALL players will assist in judging. The way this will work is that after the submission period is over, After all decks are revealed, judge your own deck against every other deck (going first and going second). Post your findings here in this thread. They will be reviewed by everyone for accuracy. Once a winner is determined the winners deck will be added to the banned list and the next round will begin. Repeated failure to do your own scoring will result in suspensions!

I think there were a few incorrect scores from last round giving WCFmo more points... I would have checked these earlier but I was out of town all weekend...

yaku versus WCFmo:
yaku's play: yaku plays Bog. WCFmo plays land + Shaman. yaku plays Plague Spitter. WCFmo plays nothing. During yaku's next upkeep, WCFmo turns Bog into an Island. The Plague Spitter trigger goes onto the stack. Then WCFmo plays Pongify on Shaman. Plague Spitter trigger resolves and the life totals are 19-19. yaku can't attack or he loses his creature and can't Mind Twist, so he passes the turn. Then WCFmo attacks with his 3/3 on his turn, putting yaku at 16. He then plays Apprentice. On yaku's turn, both players take 1 damage from Spitter, putting the score at 18-15 (WCFmo-yaku). From here, a 3/3 Ape outraces a 2/2 Spitter, if yaku tries attacking. If yaku doesn't attack, he dies to his own Spitter. This should be WW for WCFmo and LL for yaku, not WD...

WCFmo versus BoT:
WCFmo's play: Race with Pongify: WCFmo plays land + Shaman. BoT plays Hangar. WCFmo attacks to 19 then plays Pongify to race faster. BoT gets 1 counter. WCFmo attacks to 16 and plays Apprentice, BoT 2 counters. Then 12-3, 8-4, 4-5. WCFmo attacks BoT to death. That's a Win for WCFmo.

BoT's play: WCFmo's actions determine how this plays out.
Option 1 - WCFmo races with Pongify but is 1 turn too slow (see above post). This ends in Win for BoT.

Option 2 - WCFmo does nothing until BoT plays stuff. Eventually BoT has infinite mana. On his turn, he plays Nightstalker + Mindslicer. If WCFmo Pongifies the Mindslicer, he loses his Apprentice. If he plays Apprentice on his next turn, it dies to Consume. This ends in Win for BoT.

Option 3 - WCFmo plays Shaman and then does nothing. Eventually BoT has infinite mana. At the end of one of WCFmo's turns, he plays Consume and kills Shaman. Then, he untaps and plays both creatures. Apprentice can only stop 1, and Pongify gives another creature to attack with. This ends in Win for BoT.

Option 4 - WCFmo plays Shaman then Apprentice. He loses to Consume. This is a Win for BoT.

Option 5 - WCFmo plays Apprentice first. This does nothing and he loses to Nightstalker. This is a Win for BoT.

I think this is WL for both, not DD...

WCFmo versus Numotflame96:
Numot's play: Numot plays turn 1 Assassin. WCFmo plays Shaman. Numot plays Wistful Thinking and empties Numot's hand. Numot does not attack. If WCFmo attacks, then Numot can level up his guy. So WCFmo has to tap to deactivate the Sea during Numot's upkeep. This leaves him open to the 1/1 attacking him to death. If he lets the creature level, then it eventually kills the Shaman and wins. This should be WL for both, not WD for WCFmo and LD for Numot...


That's how I see it, at least :-P Thoughts?

Should Ancient Den be banned? It's just a land that taps for mana. It's also an artifact, but storage lands also add counters and they aren't banned.

I've got a deck idea that needs it not to be banned :-P

Today is the LAST day to submit a deck. I've updated the list of people who have given me a deck, so if you don't see your name there, but want to play, PM me ASAP!

Ancient Den (and Vault of Whispers) are both banned. Although they may be right there on the cusp of what's legal regarding lands, I'm going to follow the spirit of the rule on this one. The rule was intended to allow BIG spells to continue to be played, even if someone wins with storage lands. Otherwise, eventually the format would eventually degenerate into an unfun metagame where only basic lands are legal. While the artifact lands only tap for one mana of one color (except Darksteel Citadel), they ARE artifacts and sets them apart. Ancient Den allowed for unusual plays that required an artifact that aren't present when replacing it with a plains.

The decklists have been posted.

You may use other formats as well, but this one is a must. Also PLEASE make sure you use the proper deck number for your deck. Replace the '?' on the bottom line with the number next to your name on the decklist.

Scoring:

Play your deck against each other deck twice, once with you going first, once with them going first.

Always remember that each deck is to be played perfectly.

For each of the 2 games, score 3 points if your deck wins or 1 point if the game is a draw, with no

points for a loss.

Some examples:
2 wins (WW) is 6 points.
A win and a draw (WD) is 4 points.
A win and a loss (WL) is 3 points.
2 draws (DD) is 2 points.
A draw and a loss (DL) is 1 point.
2 losses (LL) is 0 points.

Plug YOUR deck number into the ? below the ##, and your score against each deck into the other

slots.

Do not play your deck against itself. Just enter an 'x' in the chart under your deck number.

1. nailbunny7 - I gain life faster than he can build his Vebulid. Edict stops Ascendant temporarily but it comes back. WW

2. yakusoku - I don't care about Mind Twist. I gain as much life per turn as Djinn can deal, and it eventually kills yaku. WW

3. MAB_Rapper - Ascendant > Dodecapod. WW

5. mattw - I gain 6 life per turn with a small Ascendant. mattw can deal a max of 6 per turn. Eventually my pecks deal 20 damage. WW

6. Magic1264 - Vindicate and Angel don't matter when I can get back whatever dies. WW

7. Battle_of_Twits - Poison just slows me down a bit with having to shuffle my land back. I gain 6 per turn and Yukora can only deal 5. WW

8. Absurd90 - Divert doesn't do anything. My 1/1 is better than his. WW

9. junichi - My turn 1 Ascendant blocks his Asp, but I can't attack or else he will kill me back, so we stare. DD

10. WCFmo - On the draw, he plays turn 1 Ostracize. I play City + Elixir. If he plays Zendikon, then I pop Elixir during my upkeep and shuffle. Worst-case for me is to draw Ascendant. If I play Ascendant, then he makes me discard my Elixir next turn after I have drawn it but before I can play it. Therefore, I play nothing but keep Ascendant and Plains in hand. He does nothing. I draw Elixir. I float mana from City, then play Plains, lose the City, then play Elixir and pop it to reshuffle. He keeps doing nothing and just waiting until he can hopefully catch me with Piracy Charm. I just have Ascendant in hand. Next turn I draw Elixir. I play it. Next turn I draw City and play it. Now I can continue to cycle Elixir until I have a million life, always keeping Ascendant in hand to make sure I can keep the Elixir trick going. Then, when I'm satisfied I have enough life, I play Ascendant, which is bigger than Zendikon. Now it doesn't matter that I lose Elixir next upkeep because I have gained enough life to have a big 1-cc creature. WW

11. Myy - No matter what I do, he ends up with a 6/6 first striker that can always block my 6/6 without me gaining life (first strike). I only gain 5 per turn with Elixir, so I slowly die. LL

1. nailbunny7 WW. I can make him discard three cards on turn two, which is too fast for him to play anything but Hangar.

2. yakusoku XX

3. MAB_Rapper WL. On the play, I can deal 20 damage before he can play both creatures. On the draw, I can get him down to 5 before he plays both. I either lose to my own creature or he double blocks and he has a 3/3 to kill me.

4. coinmagic45 LL. I can't stop him from playing turn 1 Elixir

5. mattw WL. On the play, I make him lose Wurm. On the draw, he can play Mungha Wurm and race Juzam.

6. Magic1264 WW. I can Mind Twist before he can Vindicate.

7. Battle_of_Twits WL. Mind Twist wins on the play, Poison the Well wins on the draw.

8. Absurd90 WW. I play Juzam Djinn and race. I can also play Mind Twist for 1.

9. junichi LL. He kills me on turn 2 on the draw, and sits back and waits for my own creature to kill me on the play.

10. WCFmo DL. On the play, I lose Juzam to either Piracy Charm or Ostracize and Mind Twist for the draw. On the draw, he plays Ostracize first, making me lose Juzam, then plays Zendikon while I'm tapped out.

11. Myy WW I Mind Twist on turn two and go down to 1, but race him.
