We were recently told by the American distributor that we use that we can no longer buy older sets from them, just Standard sets due to Wizards. My question is, does anyone know of a Canadian Distributor that reliably carries older sets?

I have a bunch of mirrodin boosters (not a lot... like 6-8 :P) for sale if you want them... Import Dragon (Québec) has mirrodin block, homelands (lol), kamigawa and ravnica blocks + coldsnap... there's prolly more but these are the ones I get for my store from them.

Basically you will have to look for a store or ebay to reliably get the boxes you want. Canadian distributors are under the same restrictions that any other distributors are so they can't really sell that stuff. There is a store locally that has boxes of every expansions from The Dark onwards. The owner has indicated that distributors often call him to get older stuff because they can't. His prices are brutal but if you want the stuff bad enough look up Dave's Fun and Games in Red Deer, Alberta.

This is a new directive from Wizards to distributors? Not being allowed to sell left over non-standard product seems terrible for business. Not all players follow standard and would much prefer to buy something cheaper for casual play. (This is coming from someone that hates the term "casual" cause its typically a reference to bad players that will never get better.) Wizards was catering to this crowd so I would be fairly surprised at a move like this.

I think this is part of the regional distribution agreement that they have. Canadian distributors are not allowed to sell product to american buyers and vice versa. There just aren't as many large distribution companies in Canada that might still have stock of older product.

www dot importsdragon dot comThey're my distributor and they have older sets. Contact them. Edit: don't look at their stock on the website, call them or send them an e-mail, they have kamigawa and other old stuff as well).
