But no, the real point:

To anyone that uses the Abyssal Persecutor; what are your thoughts on the evolution of answers people are using against it?

Originally, most of my opponents would let me beat them into oblivion with a demon (or two) and then stare dumbstruck as I killed, exiled or sacrificed my own creature for the win...but now it seems like the level of hatred towards my poor, misunderstood pets is worse then the hatred most stupidly good beaters get. I've seen more Path to Exiles, Swords to Plowshares, Malestrom Pulses, Edicts, Ultimatiums and more hit my Persecutors then the flight of Baneslayers Angels and Dragon Broodmates across the table.

My game has gone from "Persecutor", Swing, swing, swing, swing, Edict to "Persecutor" fetch a land; gain some life; or pitch it to the graveyard before I get a single attack phase with it...

I'm so sad, my poor demon minions aren't satiating their blood thirst anymore...

Unfortunately, it seems that the mental faculties at the EDH forum only seemed to be interested in ridiculing others that where trying to help; because of certain persons dislike of a certain color and their "awakening" to finding that colors place in their game.

Well...their names are Slaughter, Mayhem, Destruction and Terror and they live in a box in my backpack.

On the weekends, they like to play Diablo 2; Halo and Battlefield Bad Company 2 and eviscerate small children in 3rd world countries while posing as evil dictators.

During the week they either work for table scraps by being magic cards; or as spectral images of the anti-christ and fly through various high-profile churches.

And I love them so much I made them each a pair of boots made with lining of panda and shell of black rhino; with lacing from the guts and sinews of the Siberian tiger.

What is Abyssal Persecutor's overall level of relevance right now, anyway? I don't claim to have infinite knowledge of the scene, as it were, but it seems to me Frost Titan replaced them, then Grave Titan made its comeback.

Tough, Tezzeret decks are going to pack lots and lots of Peirce Striders and Shimmer Myrs; probably Consecrated Sphinx too; but the Sphinx looks like timmy casual fodder and draft bomb; not dedicated constructed goodness.

All in all though, the best way to use Persecutors is in legacy running aggrotroll monoblack alongside Demigods with a full suit of edicts, unmakes, mutilates/damnations.

In standard, so far the best decks post-Jund/Alara are all running heavy into the available planeswalkers.
W/U is strong because it has both an Elspeth, and the even better Venser and Jace 2.0; while red is getting a fat boost off of Koth and some really efficient burn and creatures this time around. The core standard PW's aren't much of an issue anymore.

Trying to re-intergrate Persecutors into standard is going to take some considerable fumbling; but black/red deck might not be the worse idea; since it has a few extra sac outlets and burn-control then green would have; plus Koth in R/B wouldn't be that bad at all. Still, as said... Venser, Elspeth, Jace 2.0....
