OK, I'm wondering what folks think about why the Wasteland goes for such a premium price and the Strip Mine doesn't. Is it simply because the Strip Mine has been reprinted? It seems to me that the Strip Mine is a better card. I admit that I'm a very casual MtG player though and I'm not very knowledgeable on the various competitive formats, which could also be another reason for the higher premium I suppose. Any explanations are appreciated.

Thanks!

I was thinking it might have been something along those lines. Most of the MtG I play is at home with friends and we rarely play lately...our banned/restricted lists we do play with date back around the time 5th edition was released -lol

Sounds like I may need to do some reading up on the various formats.

Thanks!

These are up-to-dates B&R (Banned & Restricted) lists for all formats sanctioned by the DCI.

edit: I almost forgot the link! http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=judge/resources/banned

Strip Mine is legal in only two formats--Vintage and EDH. It's restricted in both. Wasteland is legal in Vintage, Legacy, and EDH, and is unrestricted in both Vintage and Legacy. Much more demand, and my guess is similar supply.

One can only hope that they never unrestrict Strip Mine. I can remember THAT far back to a day when it wasn't. Card is totally unfair.

I remember a deck back then, 4 strip mines, 4 stone rains, 4 ice storms that a guy used to play. So unfun to play against.
