4-Card Blind (4CB) is a very unique game.
The rules are as follows:
* Your deck is composed of 4 cards, all of which start in your hand.
* You have no library (technically, the library exists, but starts at 0 cards) and no sideboard (Wishes fetch nothing).
* Random effects always go against the owner of the card.
* You can see your opponent's hand, so you can always make the best possible play.
* You don't lose as a result of not being able to draw a card.
* You will play each opponent twice, once going first, once going second.
* For each win, you score 3.
* For each draw, you score 1.
* For each loss, you get nothing.
* A subgame played with the card Shahrazad will result in an incomplete game and both players will receive ZERO points, since the main game cannot be resumed. Neither player loses or draws, so neither player earns any points.
* Other than the aforementioned, EVERYTHING IS HANDLED EXACTLY LIKE A REAL GAME OF MAGIC!
Remember, it is important for your deck to include a way to cast your cards! (Lands, artifact mana, pitch cards, etc.)
If you want to play PM me a message in this format.
Subject should include "Vanishing 4-Card Blind" (Just click on the little PM icon above my post and it should work out that way.)
Card #1
Card #2
Card #3
Card #4
Be sure you really are happy with your deck before you submit. Once you send in a deck, there is no changing it except in the case of an illegal entry.
Please make every effort to spell your card names correctly. It makes it easier for everyone. Thanks.
The "Vanishing" part is the twist. To start off with, only Unglued, Unhinged and Ante cards are banned. After each round, the 4 cards in the winning deck plus any cards in more than 1/3 of the decks played will be banned for all future rounds. Any lands that only provide mana are exempted from the banning rules.

--------------End of Banning list--------------

I will try and post a new round every Monday, allow submissions through Wednesday, reveal deck lists first thing on Thursday and review results posted over the weekend.

NO MISE DECKS!

Any deck submitted MUST have some win condition. Any deck that can do no better than a draw against any possible deck will be rejected. A deck that can't win any game is mathematically eliminated from winning the round, and thus would just be taking a chance to win away from someone who could actually have a shot.

ALL players will assist in judging. The way this will work is that after the submission period is over, After all decks are revealed, judge your own deck against every other deck (going first and going second). Post your findings here in this thread. They will be reviewed by everyone for accuracy. Once a winner is determined the winners deck will be added to the banned list and the next round will begin. Repeated failure to do your own scoring will result in suspensions!

The decklists have been posted.

You may use other formats as well, but this one is a must. Also PLEASE make sure you use the proper deck number for your deck. Replace the '?' on the bottom line with the number next to your name on the decklist.

Scoring:

Play your deck against each other deck twice, once with you going first, once with them going first.

Always remember that each deck is to be played perfectly.

For each of the 2 games, score 3 points if your deck wins or 1 point if the game is a draw, with no

points for a loss.

Some examples:
2 wins (WW) is 6 points.
A win and a draw (WD) is 4 points.
A win and a loss (WL) is 3 points.
2 draws (DD) is 2 points.
A draw and a loss (DL) is 1 point.
2 losses (LL) is 0 points.

Plug YOUR deck number into the ? below the ##, and your score against each deck into the other

slots.

Do not play your deck against itself. Just enter an 'x' in the chart under your deck number.

Please copy-and-paste the following code into your Message box in order to assist you with scoring:

code:

## 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 TOTAL

Sweet, earlier than lunch time today :-) What a good distraction from doing work!

code:

## 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 TOTAL
05 6 6 6 6 X 6 3 33

1. Magic1264 - On the draw, he plays turn 1 Fountain. I play Farm. He puts 1 counter and plays Fountain #2. I play Ajani and keep the 1 counter land tapped (Ajani = 4). He puts 1 counter on Fountain #2. I play Ratchet Bomb and keep 1 counter land tapped (Ajani = 5). He puts 2 counters on Fountain #2. I keep Fountain #2 tapped (Ajani = 6). He puts 2 counters on Fountain #1. I keep Fountain #2 tapped (Ajani = 7). He puts 3 counters on Fountain #1. I keep Fountain #1 tapped (Ajani = 8). He puts 3 counters on Fountain #2. I used Ajani's ultimate and win. WW

2. yakusoku - On the play, Ajani comes down and kills Miner and I will. On the draw, if he plays turn 1 Miner, I play turn 1 Ratchet Bomb and blow it to kill Mox. Miner can't kill my lands any more, so Ajani wins. So, he has to go for turn 2 Miner. But by turn 2, I can play Ajani and kill it. WW

3. MeddlingMage - I use Ajani to alternately tap his lands so none get many counters until I can Ajani ultimate and win. WW

4. Numotflame96 - See Magic1264. WW

6. Absurd90 - Ratchet Bomb kills Scroll. Ajani wins. WW

7. Myy - On the play, Ajani keeps Bog tapped down for the win. On the draw, he plays Bog. I play Farm. He plays Crusader. I play Ratchet Bomb and go to 1 counter. He attacks me to 2 poison. Ratchet goes to 2 counters. If I play Ajani and blow Ratchet Bomb, he drops the other Crusader and kills Ajani then me. I can't stop that. WL

>>charge until i have 13 counters, end of turn i make 10 tokens
he makesa token for 4 mana and blocks, leaving him at 2. he untaps, and casts matial coup, both of us have 0 mana left. i get 2 mana end of that turn. i pass. he gets 2 mana and attacks for 5. i go to 15. i untap with 4 mana, then pass. he goes to 4 mana then attacks me to 10. i cast zenith for 3 tokens when he attacks, block 3 tokens, and go to 8. he has 6 maan at this point ,i have 0.he flashes 3 new tokens EOT, if he atttacks, i can kill his tokens and end up on top. if not we sit there in a stalemate since we both have the same amount of mana, i can't hit damage through, he can only hit 2 damage through and i'm at 8. i think this ends up as a Draw. and on the play, its the same thing just i'm at 3 instead of 8
i think i might nead to find a friedn to help play this one out since halfway throug i totally confused myself

1. Magic1264 WW. I blow up his lands before he can play anything.

2. yakusoku XX

3. MeddlingMage WW. I blow up his lands before he can play anything.

4. Numotflame96 WW. I blow up his lands before he can play anything.

5. coinmagic45 LL. I lose Mox to Ratchet Bomb or lose Miner to Ajani. Either way, I lose.

6. Absurd90 DL. On the play, he loses City; I lose Miner. On the draw, he can deal 2 damage to the Miner before I can destroy the City.

7. Myy WL. One the play, I can destroy his Peat Bog before he can play anything. On the draw, he beats me to it and a single Phyrexian Crusader sneaks by and wins it.

So, it looks like it's that time again. We've managed to go well past a year into the tournament, but the number of people who play has gone down and down with this being the lowest we've ever had.

Shall we proceed with a very small number of people? Should we call it a wrap and put the game on hiatus for awhile?
Should we do a reboot?

This is the first _CB tournament I have done. How did it work in the past? Did you call it quits after the numbers dwindled, or did you go a set number of rounds, or what? I really enjoy this tournament, so I'd hate to see it end! Is there some way we can get more people interested?

Previously, when it was V3CB, we "rebooted" the game and started everything from scratch with no wins, no banned cards snd started from there. This time around, someone suggested we play with four cards so people would automatically fall back on the 3 card decks we all know.

There isn't a pre-determined number of rounds, but you just can tell when things are dying down, like people leaving a party.

Usually the only way to get a bunch of people interested is to start fresh and ask everyone if they want to play. When we get into single digits of people playing, the game is showing signs of growing old and when it's under 8 people, it's pretty much time to end this iteration.

For reference, here is the first round of V4CB.

This is the last round of V3CB.

maybe go a few more rounds and see if we get more attendance?

when i started this tournament some rounds ago, i took a while to look back at lots of the old rounds and some of the 3CB rounds. i think part of the problem is that normally, when the card pool starts to dwindle, a new set comes out offering new options, i bringing new decks for people. personally i think that Mirrodin beseiged was a week set in general, and it doesn't help that the nature of 4cb is that the curves are much lower than constructed (if you even call it a curve) and lots of the cards in MBS are geared to lots of mana or lots of cards to work with. basically, compared to when i came in round 49 (i think) the card pool is drastically small and didn't really get replenished. less card=less decks=less interest=less people

maybe try Vanishing 5 Card Blind? capaired to 4card blind it seems so broken...

You did. My apologies. I noted your deck and forgot to copy its contents for some reason. I'll fix the scores later.

Final Scores:

code:

01 X 0 0 2 0 6 0 08
02 6 X 6 6 0 1 3 22
03 6 0 X 0 0 0 0 06
04 2 0 6 X 0 6 0 14
05 6 6 6 6 X 6 3 33 <= winner!
06 0 6 6 0 0 x 6 18
07 6 3 6 6 3 0 X 24

The tournament is officially on hiatus until I determine the best course of action to take. Right now, I am leaning towards a complete reboot of 4CB.

I'll admit, I stopped playing because I simply got extremly busy with everything. The fact that this listed as long as it did is a good sign, but I do agree it might be time to freshen it up.

5 cards would be awesome...I cannot count the number of times I had created a great combo but couldn't get it done w/ just 4 cards.

Agreed. It will be VERY complicated, I think, to have 5 cards and determine the "right" play. But that's the fun part! And it will give more room for creativity. And land-disruption cards (Lush Growth, etc.) will be less dominating. V4CB is a bit boring when Peat Bog + City of Traitors + Discard + fattie is always competitive because there are unlimited discard spells. Maybe adding a fifth card will give more deck flexibility to play around these strategies.

I say we do just 1 more to see if Coinmagic is the real winner of this Game, or if Yaku can do it once more.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but coinmagic just won, so he'd be 2 ahead. Though if YAK and Coin want to play amongst themselves I have no objection :P

I believe you are correct Sir.

but this can be like what we call the golden goal, or sudden death. 1 vs 1 winner takes all :P

Well, since I have no more deck ideas, how about we just call it mine since I went WW against just about everyone this week :-)

If we do start a V5CB, can we promote it or something to get more people interested? Rounds with 10-15 decklists are pretty awesome!

I just paid for a billboard in downtown Detroit, Michigan. I'm thinking we can get some ads on the March Madness tournament and maybe even a blimp?

We are going to have to sell a lot of MOTL cookies in order to do this though...

:P
