I have been selling on MOTL for a long time and for the local game store for almost 4 years now, but wondered as someone that is totally brand new to cardshark.com, how long on average does it take for a newb to see their first sale transaction to show up? I really just created my account on monday and maybe it is just a little bit of my impatience // new seller anxiety as a newb, but I listed around $1000-$1500 of cards worth mostly $15.00 or less each and would love to hear from anyone that has been selling on there for a while.__________________ #2 in References in VirginiaOfficial Magic Dealer for Fun-N-Games in Blacksburg, VA Live in WV, near Blacksburg or Roanoke, VA? Do you have a name that is recognized world wide? A world-famous reputation (not infamous mind you,)?Are your prices competitive after shipping/handling/tax?

I've been selling there off an on since 2003 maybe... it really just depends on the cards you are selling and the price you put them at compared to the rest of the cards..I put my jaces up there for $5 less ($90.00) then the other ones listed and sold all four of them over night. So if you beat the other prices by about a buck it shouldnt take long, so long as your selling in demand cards. I've had much better luck selling standard stuff there over any of the other formats. I would also recomend that you require people to buy insurance on orders of $50.00 or more that way cardshark will allow you more for shipping and you end up making an extra $0.30-$0.50 cents. The nice thing about cardshark is they act as a thrid party when theres a problem... I've never had a problem selling on there, but as a buyer I had a seller mail out new cards the same day I emailed them about a problem. The only part I dont like is it takes about 2 weeks for cardshark to give you your money.

I've been thinking about selling on there, just for the sake of having some type of inventory tracking system available.Does small stuff move at all? Or is it mainly just higher dollar value cards? __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!

I have bought small and cheap stuff (tokens/commons) there before, so it does sell.

I looked at selling some stuff on there. Took me forever to find it but they do take %15 of your sales. It's not worth it to me since I have to wait on my money from them in the first place. They are just a middle man taking a cut.

I dont use them because they've been promising since 2003 to allow non-US sellers and they haven't.

They're providing an inventory system, advertising, shopping cart, search function, and much more. Why shouldn't they get a cut? Try and build your own site and see if you can keep the operating costs below 15% of your sales without horribly inflating your prices. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!

The smaller stuff does sell... you have to buy at least $1.00 from a seller so it does help to list the small stuff too.

maybe it is just a little bit of impatience -- i am usually sticking with the cardshark average pricing and am beating some peoples prices by a certain percentage. however, although i am moderately well-known on motl, i really am just a small college town dealer that is just getting restarted by trying to figure out how to get stuff sold online until i can figure out how to use a real online store system's software like yahoo or google stores. i really had no idea where to start, but i really have been stuck on trying to figure out how to set up the software for a more well-known system to not only sell magic cards, but also the store owner's other supplies like paint, role playing books, miniatures, and figured card shark may be an option at least for magic cards. My starting budget for figuring out the software was less than $100.00 and the $400.00 adobe dreamweaver was a ballbusting price that made me think twice before even buying it.Anyhow, thanks for the advice! I really appreciate everyone's feedback! __________________ #2 in References in VirginiaOfficial Magic Dealer for Fun-N-Games in Blacksburg, VA Live in WV, near Blacksburg or Roanoke, VA?
