Players should learn that they should never mess around with STAPLES, or sell for STAPLES for a small gain only to see the price sky-rocket subsequently. Get the staples at the earliest date possible and keep them until you quit MTG. Real staples do not drop in price easily, unless WOTC does some bannings.

For Dealers, I guess I am one. Dealers should aim to make money in both bull and bear market via market-making role, and not being a card speculator.

You get lucky. The one store locally that was reasonable, had them where they would do a lottery on them and you could put your name in, and if it was drawn, you could buy one at retail. The other store that got them sold them at more than double MSRP.

Unfortunately Wizards changed it and made it where only stores that held tourneys here could get the FTV sets and the store that held the lottery & let the winners buy them at retail, was no longer able to get them anymore. And we are stuck with the stupid store that sells them at more than double retail.

Hense why I always go to GenCon and pray that I am one of the lucky 400 people over the weekend that manages to get one.
