5-Card Blind (5CB) is a very unique game.
The rules are as follows:
* Your deck is composed of 5 cards, all of which start in your hand.
* You have no library (technically, the library exists, but starts at 0 cards) and no sideboard (Wishes fetch nothing).
* Random effects always go against the owner of the card.
* You can see your opponent's hand, so you can always make the best possible play.
* You don't lose as a result of not being able to draw a card.
* You will play each opponent twice, once going first, once going second.
* For each win, you score 3.
* For each draw, you score 1.
* For each loss, you get nothing.
* A subgame played with the card Shahrazad where neither player has any means to win the subgame will result in an incomplete game and both players will receive ZERO points for that game, since the main game cannot be resumed. Neither player loses or draws, so neither player earns any points.
* Other than the aforementioned, EVERYTHING IS HANDLED EXACTLY LIKE A REAL GAME OF MAGIC!
Remember, it is important for your deck to include a way to cast your cards! (Lands, artifact mana, pitch cards, etc.)
If you want to play PM me a message in this format.
Subject should include "Vanishing 5-Card Blind" (Just click on the little PM icon above my post and it should work out that way.)
Card #1
Card #2
Card #3
Card #4
Card #5
Be sure you really are happy with your deck before you submit. Once you send in a deck, there is no changing it except in the case of an illegal entry.
Please make every effort to spell your card names correctly. It makes it easier for everyone. Thanks.
The "Vanishing" part is the twist. To start off with, only Unglued, Unhinged and Ante cards are banned. After each round, the 5 cards in the winning deck plus any cards in more than 1/3 of the decks played will be banned for all future rounds. Any lands that only provide mana are exempted from the banning rules.

NO MISE DECKS!

Any deck submitted MUST have some win condition. Any deck that can do no better than a draw against any possible deck will be rejected. A deck that can't win any game is mathematically eliminated from winning the round, and thus would just be taking a chance to win away from someone who could actually have a shot.

ALL players will assist in judging. The way this will work is that after the submission period is over, After all decks are revealed, judge your own deck against every other deck (going first and going second). Post your findings here in this thread. They will be reviewed by everyone for accuracy. Once a winner is determined the winners deck will be added to the banned list and the next round will begin. Repeated failure to do your own scoring will result in suspensions!

The decklists have been posted.

PLEASE make sure you use the proper deck number for your deck. Replace the '?' on the bottom line with the number next to your name on the decklist.

Scoring:

Play your deck against each other deck twice, once with you going first, once with them going first.

Always remember that each deck is to be played perfectly.

For each of the 2 games, score 3 points if your deck wins or 1 point if the game is a draw, with no

points for a loss.

Some examples:
2 wins (WW) is 6 points.
A win and a draw (WD) is 4 points.
A win and a loss (WL) is 3 points.
2 draws (DD) is 2 points.
A draw and a loss (DL) is 1 point.
2 losses (LL) is 0 points.

Plug YOUR deck number into the ? below the ##, and your score against each deck into the other slots.

Do not play your deck against itself. Just enter an 'x' in the chart under your deck number.

Please copy-and-paste the following code into your Message box in order to assist you with scoring:

code:

## 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 TOTAL

1. yakusoku WW
I have Leyline of Sanctity out, so I can proceed with my plan and get a 5/5 out. He can’t play form of the dragon to kill my Woodfall Primus, but he’ll be forced to hit himself next turn and die.
The same happens when I’m on the draw.
2. joz LL
Can’t beat the fast combo deck.
3. NumotFlame96 LL
Can’t beat the combo deck, again.
4. Magic1264 DD
On the play, I play my mox + land and pass the turn. He can play his mox + land and drop a bitterblossom, then I can drop the Primus on my turn and draw. On the draw, Chalice for 0 locks me out of my Mox, but my land can still produce enough for Flash and eke out a draw.
5. LemonMeringue LL
Leyline of Sanctity protects the combo, but Magus of the Moon locks me out of blue.
6. SageShadows XX
7. Myy LL
On the play, I drop the land + mox. He plays a steel overseer. I nuke his city of traitors. He makes his Ornithopter 1/3, I swing for 5. He makes his Ornithopter 2/4, I swing for 5. He makes it 3/5, I swing for 5. His thopter is now big enough to hold down the fort, and I eventually lose.
On the draw, I lose.
8. WestWycke WW
On the play, I drop the land + mox. He plays Nezumi Shortfang. I can Flash in and nuke his mana sources to win.
On the draw, the same thing happens as he can’t Encroach me.

## 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 TOTAL
-?? 0 x 2 6 3 6 6 6 29
(this is my first time, and I'm pretty sure I got everything right.)

1. Yakusoku vs. Joz
I go first: I lose, can't attack.
I go second: I lose, can't attack.
LL

2. NumotFlame96 vs. Joz
double-draw; neither of us can go first and win. so we both hold out

3. Magic1264 vs. Joz
I go first: Show and tell into Proj; doesn't matter what he does since he can't kill or block Proj and I kill him in 3 turns.
I go second: He gets Mox, Valley, Blossom, and I get Proj and win.
WW

4. LemonMeringue vs. Joz
I play first: I get out Proj and win.
I play second: He unmasks any card other then the island, and wins with a Magus of the Moon.
WL

5. SageShadows vs. Joz
I play first: I Show and tell into Proj and he gets Woodfall, blowing up my Island. I can wait to swing first and win.
I play second: I think I still win this one...not sure what Sage's plan was.

WW

6. Myy vs. Joz
Not fun; to easy.
WW

7. WestWycke vs. Joz
Prog. brutalizes him.

Edit: Hey joz, you DD against numotflame i think. He waits for you to show and tell, then he puts grave titan into play. He attacks you for 4, making 2 more tokens, if you block the grave titan he then uses his combo to replay it, making 2 more tokens for 6 total. If you attack, he wins. You can't play show and tell without losing, he can't play grave titan without losing.

Yes you did. Don't you recognize it? It's deck #8, just attached to the wrong player name.

I still don't know how I did that. I've fixed the original post.

Hmmm..
On the play:

I cast show and tell, he Titans and I Prog.

He attacks on his turn with Titan and tokens and I blow with Prog. Down to 14 and he has 4 tokens now. He replays getting two more tokens for a total of 6. I attack on my turn. On his turn he attacks for 6+12 and wins...

yeap
Good call.

How would this work for scoring though? knowing that I would just pass turn and wait for him to play first; or visa versa.

The optimal play for both of you is to wait for the other guy to play first, so neither of you do anything forever. So, both games are draws.

2. joz WW. Form prevents him from attacking and I just burn him out.

3. NumotFlame96 DD. I wait until he plays Grave Titan, then bring out Form and just deal 5 damage to Grave Titan every turn, while he can't attack me and I can't damage him.

4. Magic1264 WL. On the play, I race Bitterblossom/Sheltered Valley and kill him in 4/5 turns (depends whether he plays Bitterblossom or not).
On the draw he plays Chalice for 1 and I lose.

5. LemonMeringue WL. On the play, I cast everything and he can't do anything. On the draw, he Unmasks Form and wins with a Gray Ogre.

6. SageShadows LL. Leyline rocks me and he can play Primus first and force me to Form and eventually kill myself.

7. Myy WW. I burn all his creatures, one each turn until he has no creatures and burn him.

8. WCFmo WW. I get out Form and race Bitterblossom and burn Shortfang if he plays it.
