I came across the auction of an original art Candelabra on Ebay. Since someone payed nearly 30 000 i checked out the details. I then come across the 2 videos after scrolling down a bit.

http://cgi.ebay.ca/CANDELABRA-TAWNOS-ORIGINAL-MTG-ANTIQUITIES-ARTWORK-/310325833188?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4840dc6de4

In the second video he is not sure about the amount of Beta rares or set size but that is reasonable. Just that i would think he would know it all as you see how specialized he is, the level of knowledge and products he deals in.

The main thing is in the 1st video he is specifically showcasing the Antiquities expansion.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyiuFYghxnk&feature=player_embedded

Unfortunately for such a professional, he messes up the expansion order. Could have been a slip of the tongue had he only briefly mention Antiquities being the 3rd expansion but he goes on to list the 1st 3 expansions as Arabian Nights, Legends then Antiquities.
So it is actually not just a slip of the tongue.

Regular folks or even minor dealers getting it wrong is totally fine. But they specifically deal with the oldest & rarest cards.

Question is if you were dealing at such a high level with that kind of $ involved, level of product & professionalism would you expect the dealer to know the basics?

For example being listed as an authorized premier grading authority & professional. Though they are specifying they are into the "grading" aspect of it they also are listed as in the "dealing" aspect of it so i would expect some sort of knowledge as on top they are so in depth that they deal with the artists directly.

Would you expect common knowledge when you are spending close to 30K on product from a specialized leading authority? Just wondering how comfortable you would be in that situation? True premier dealers like SCG i would have no issue as i trust their knowledge especially on the basics.

Impressive amount of such rare products. Most likely inventory worth in the low millions (1 - 2). Beta starters, early booster boxes, packs & highly graded powers that they always have or deal in.
Makes me wonder if people are printing the graded ones. =) Are there that many minty A/B power that he seems to always have? Either way a lot of good stuff.

There is a reason no one likes this guy. He knows nothing of the game and is only in it to attempt to make some money. Not sure how hes still going with the prices he wants. Either way, I wouldn't buy a thing from him even if he was charging reasonable prices.

You will be surprised. There are many people out there, particularly Asians, who equate size of price with quality. There will be takers for his prices, though some waiting is needed.

I have seen many Asian businessmen who just want to sell you something and care for nothing. Fellow countrymen? Nah, profits come first. I was able to crave up a niche becos other dealers want 40% net margins while I was happy to settle for 10-15% net margins

Personally, I wouldn't touch this. The name is similar to a known scammer, and the items in question are too easily searchable. And Antiquities was the second MTG expansion set, so yes, he is also wrong there.

And the ebay auction for for the Artwork, not the card itself.

Thanks,
Jazaray

I had bought a card from there once. I will never ever get from there again! Lack of effort of the packaging overall.

I bought my Weakness art directly from Shuler for $350. Even though the Weakness is not not iconic in anyway and the Candelabra maybe is, I cant image he sold the Candelabra for anywhere close to that 30K.

It was bought by whoever bought all the expensive items and didn't pay for them, is my guess.
