This thread got me excited for a deck I am buying from my uncle... He has had a Prodigal Sorcerer deck together since roughly Tempest/Visions that was "unstoppable" in our house for a long time. He quit playing probably 12 years ago and just found the deck in his closet and wants to get rid of it... all of it jank except the playsets of Savannah, Tundra, and Tropical Island. Naturally, they have never seen sleeves, and I believe this is the only deck he ever had. I can't (can?) wait to see those. __________________ seancperry on MTGO Currently switching from paper to MTGO -- check my list to help!

Before emigrating to Europe I sold my collection to a dealer on the east coast...was it carefully taped back together with the rip going slightly slanted from side to side? Would be hilarious if it was the same one...

The most 'beat' cards I had weren't beat in the 'shuffled without a sleeve' sense. I had my playset of painlands in a stack once (well, like 32 or 28 of them... whatever I wasn't playing at the time) and my ex had this fragrancey wall plug-in thing that spilt all over them. Even now, six years later, they're still smellable unless you double-sleeve it.

I don't have my friends time vault yet, but I do have a copy of 2 beta sinkholes that I got for free at a gaming flea market as they are/were water damaged. The guy was gonna just throw them out (this was about 8 years ago) and I said I would take them. http://www.flickr.com/photos/41539210@N04/5929170322/in/photostream

kinda sad. Those sinkholes look really nice minus the water damage. Cards like that are decent candidates to get altered if you're into that sorta thing.

As promised, my friends UL Time Vault front and back pics. He uses it in EDH cube. When he told me what happened a while ago I was flabberghasted. Thank god he has a good sense of humor. Love the idea of a beat-up cards thread. Let's get it!quote: Originally posted by Tha Gunslinga: I will start with this lovely Sol Ring: <IMG SRC="http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/yy73/Slinga/P6300006.jpg">
Is that still available, 'slinga? I'd be interested if so. quote: Originally posted by thror: doesnt count. that was unnaturally damaged (not just infinite playwear).
I'd like to second this notion. Infinite playwear is where it's at! As for my contribution, until I can get to a scanner this is the best I have for now: My Lotus Played without sleeves by me for quite some time after being acquired in a trade when it was worth around $100. I can't ever use it since I don't play Vintage but I love having it . I have a beat beta Berserk and a sweet Sol Ring as well. Will post when I get a chance! Edit: Ihateworking, your Berserks are much loved! Not sure who's would win the battle of the beat Berserks but you might have the edge with the worn out eye.

I once saw a man spend $300 dollars on a lotus with a hole burned through it.

I used to have a Revised Wrath of God that was in really beat up shape. I don't have that one any more but I can add my Maze of Ith to this thread. I pulled from a pack the first week the Dark was released and used in several different decks of mine over the years. It's not as beat up as other cards that have been posted but it certainly is well-loved.Maze of Ith Front Maze of Ith Back *EDIT* Fixed links.

Honestly, I love beat cards, but that lotus kinda makes me sad. It looks like it has been used enough to cast all 4000+ of my Weaknesses. I would love to see your Berserk!!

I started in '93 and there were tons of really beat power floating around and the worst was a UL Sapphire that had been traded around among our group. I must have owned it myself 3-4 times. It had the usual array of heavy play wear(similar to the Alpha Berserk) but the bottom edge on the back was heavily worn off and badly inked. I'd love to find it again. I got so used to beat Power that when I try and pick them up now I go for played ones as they remind me of back then, have a very ugly Ruby and Twister which would stand up well on this thread.

Then by all means post them up, jj! The more beat cards with stories, the merrier .Here's the Berserk, as requested: Front Back Here's the first Sol Ring I ever owned, fresh from my first starter deck of Revised. It and a veteran Bodyguard were the all-stars of my first deck. Back then, Veteran bodyguard and Castles was a fairly effective defense, sadly. Front Back My trusty Maze of Ith, making creatures get lost since packs of Dark were $2! Front Back Finally, some of my most loved Unlimited duals. Front Back These cards were probably played in decks together for most of their sleeveless existence. I bridge shuffled like mad and resisted our new sleeve overlords for a very long time. When I buckled it was grudgingly, as a Judge at a local event forced me to proxy almost an entire deck due to playwear (there were no colored sleeves back then, just the clear ultra pros). I just wish I still had my Mox Pearl, it was worn in a more unique fashion, showing the bridge shuffle quite clearly through its wear. edit: MCC, nice Assassin! Scopes, hope you can post scans of the beat Tim deck.
