I'm looking to start up playing magic cards and I need a bunch of cards to make decks. What is my best bet? To just buy a box?

If I should get a booster box, what is the best set to get in terms of quantity of cards and good cards?

If you're looking to start playing, you'll prolly want to start with Standard (Type2) so I suggest to draft SOM, MOB, NPH and/or M12 to get a bunch of new cards + learn to play with other n00bs at the LGS

If you really want o buy a box, M12 seems pretty nice with what I've sen with the spoilers.

If you're new at your to the game and the store, you can probably ask other players for their leftover cards after any draft.

Play a lot and learn as much as you can. Don't try to act like you know what you're doing when you don't, buy also don't let anyone walk over you bc you're new.

If you buy packs or cards, don't trade your cards with anyone. You stand a very high chance of getting targeted for lopsided trades. A lot of Magic players are always looking for an easy rip. Trading almost never benefits new players. What you need is experience, not specific cards.

It sounds like the deck builder's toolkit is perfect for you.

I would suggest drafts and sealed events. Gets you cards, but most Magic Players I've dealt with take what they need and it is easy to ask them for their other random cards that they don't want to keep (aka the majority of their sealed pool)

Everytime I play an event, I keep my rares and decent uncommons and leave the rest. Someone will take it.

Sealed tournaments are good for getting cards, also if you have the cash and can trust someone who wants to play but don't have the money to, and you have it, just buy their way in, you can keep the sealed pulls and maybe split prizes with them.

If you havent done so yet, i would suggest reacquainting yourself with the rules. There have been some significant changes made since the release of Onslaught.

i just play casually with friends instead of playin like poker just need to know how I can acquire a decent amount of cards for cheap and if a booster box is the way to go. I don't know which set would be the best to get.

How much should I pay for a booster box?

For newer sets, they average $85-90 + shipping.

edit: But if you just want an insane amount of cards to fool around with, go on eBay or retail sites like starcitygames and you can order "instant collections".

You can get boxes online for 90-95 depending on the set. In stores it will cost more.

But if you want a large quantity of cards you should find someone willing to sell you bulk, then worry about buying singles as you go.

I'm not quite sure what he meant, but looks like someone was trying to post on a cell phone and didn't bother to keep an eye on autocorrect to notice they got a lot of words wrong.

Why did TnT sell you forces, diamonds, and survivals for 100 bucks?

I am almost positive that someone walked up to them with a bulk box and said "how much for the box"? And TnT bought it wand just stuck a 1 dollar tag on it without looking at it. And this happened like 5 years ago, the cards wasn't worth then what thy are now
