5-Card Blind (5CB) is a very unique game.
The rules are as follows:
* Your deck is composed of 5 cards, all of which start in your hand.
* You have no library (technically, the library exists, but starts at 0 cards) and no sideboard (Wishes fetch nothing).
* Random effects always go against the owner of the card.
* You can see your opponent's hand, so you can always make the best possible play.
* You don't lose as a result of not being able to draw a card.
* You will play each opponent twice, once going first, once going second.
* For each win, you score 3.
* For each draw, you score 1.
* For each loss, you get nothing.
* A subgame played with the card Shahrazad where neither player has any means to win the subgame will result in an incomplete game and both players will receive ZERO points for that game, since the main game cannot be resumed. Neither player loses or draws, so neither player earns any points.
* Other than the aforementioned, EVERYTHING IS HANDLED EXACTLY LIKE A REAL GAME OF MAGIC!
Remember, it is important for your deck to include a way to cast your cards! (Lands, artifact mana, pitch cards, etc.)

Be sure you really are happy with your deck before you submit. Once you send in a deck, there is no changing it except in the case of an illegal entry.
Please make every effort to spell your card names correctly. It makes it easier for everyone. Thanks.
The "Vanishing" part is the twist. To start off with, only Unglued, Unhinged and Ante cards are banned. After each round, the 5 cards in the winning deck plus any cards in more than 1/3 of the decks played will be banned for all future rounds.

Any lands that only provide mana are exempted from the banning rules. Exceptions may be made for lands which are deemed too powerful for the environment such as Mishra's Workshop and Tolarian Academy.


NO MISE DECKS!

Any deck submitted MUST have some win condition. Any deck that can do no better than a draw against any possible deck will be rejected. A deck that can't win any game is mathematically eliminated from winning the round, and thus would just be taking a chance to win away from someone who could actually have a shot.

ALL players will assist in judging. The way this will work is that after the submission period is over, After all decks are revealed, judge your own deck against every other deck (going first and going second). Post your findings here in this thread. They will be reviewed by everyone for accuracy. Once a winner is determined the winners deck will be added to the banned list and the next round will begin. Repeated failure to do your own scoring will result in suspensions!

You may use other formats as well, but this one is a must. Also PLEASE make sure you use the proper deck number for your deck. Replace the '?' on the bottom line with the number next to your name on the decklist.

Scoring:

Play your deck against each other deck twice, once with you going first, once with them going first.

Always remember that each deck is to be played perfectly.

For each of the 2 games, score 3 points if your deck wins or 1 point if the game is a draw, with no

points for a loss.

Some examples:

I can grab whatever he duresses back and Nature’s Claim off the Bitterblossom, then take my sweet time winning.

On the draw, he’s way too fast. On the play, I have Nature’s Claim mana up to stop any shenanigans.

On the play, I play my Helix Pinnacle. He duresses away my Nature’s Claim. If he taps out to play Words of Wilding, I just Noxious Revival my Nature’s Claim and DE it on my turn. The trick is to do it EOT, so he can’t duress.
On the draw, the same thing happens.

He can Scavenger, but I can Innocent Blood. He can Vindicate, but I can Noxious Revival back my Bayou.

turn 1 i cast canellabra and racthet bomb. he curesses away elspeth and i put a counter on the bomb. i have nothing more to do besides pass. he casts bitterblossom and a put a 2nd counter on the bomb. i untap and blow up the bomb taking out bitter blossom. naither of us can win. on the play he can get a single token from the blossom and beat me to death with it.

tunr 1 bomb and candle. he casts nacatl and i put my bomb to 1. i cast elspeth and make a token(5 loyal). he attacks with nacatl. i block. he casts predator i gain a life and add a counter to the bomb. i untap tap make a token and blow up predator with bomb then make a token(6 loyalty) he casts punishing fire on my token then attacks elspeth (3 loyal) i get a token (4loyal). he attacks i block then he uses grove to brign back fires. i get token (5 loyal). he punishing fires the token then attacks. this lasts for a few turns till elspeth dies and then i lose

on the play i get turn 1 bomb. he casts duress on elspeth. i have 1 counter on the bomb. he plays bottomless vault. at this point my bomb is 1 counter ahead of his vault and untaped so when he has the mana to cast phage i can blow it up. on the draw i'm pretty sure its the same since phage doesn't have haste so i still have an extra turn to kill it.


i'll put it into the code this later... sufficient fail week... i need to get my game back and rack up some wins... i always meta game wrongly. i guess i should just go back to creating random combo crap and hoping it works

I know! I made myself check like 4 times to make sure it wasn't a mistake. I mean, I didn't do amazing this round, but I'm amazed it lasted so long, and I'll be amazed if it lasts much longer... guess I just wait for a Duress deck to win first.

6. WeedIan LL. Duress makes him lose Punishing Fire, Innocent Blood makes him lose Wild Nacatl and I still lose to Kavu Predator.

7. Numotflame96 WD. Duress takes Elspeth, Ratchet Bomb destroys Bitterblossom, leaving me with 1 or 0 tokens depending on who went first.

8. dfitzg88 WW. Duress takes Balancing Act, Innocent Blood makes him lose Baloth.

9. Magic1264 WW. On the play, I Duress away Mox and his Revoker is no match for Bitterblossom. On the draw, I can still Innocent Blood away his first creature and make two creatures to block and fly over for the win.

11. SageShadows LL. Nature's Claim takes out my Bitterblossom and he has Noxious Revival to return anything I discard.

On the play, Duress takes Duress and Innocent Blood takes out Phage while I win with Bitterblossom. On the draw, Duress takes my Bitterblossom, my Duress takes his Innocent Blood and my Innocent Blood makes him lose Phage.

1. Yakusoku LD. On the draw his Duress takes my Duress and Innocent Blood takes Phage. On the play Duress takes Bitterblossom and his Innocent Blood takes out Phage so we stare.

2. LemonMeringue WL. On the play Duress one of his combo pieces. On the draw, lose at great haste.

3. mattw LL. Can't beat the Noxious Revival/other spell combo.

4. Bugger WW. On the play, Duress takes Vindicate. On the draw, Duress takes Vindicate because it's not an Instant .

5. Freakonaleash2009 LL. The machinations of the Urza lands is too much for this guy. Nice, unexpected submission!

6. WeedIan LL. Phage is too slow.

Don't think this makes a difference in any matchups, but you can only punishing fire every other turn since you have to pay R to bring it back

Edit: maybe makes difference against token generating decks?

You are correct. I have reviewed it and it does not change any matchups that i can see.

1. I sac Nactl and my guy gets too big vs his tokens (plus trample)

7. Ratchet bomb has to hit the guy with Trample at 2 which takes 3 turns and alot of damage either at him or his plainswalker.

9. Only need 3 Punishing fire swings to kill his 3 creatures

11. 40 turn kill is still faster then 100 2 damage, 1 life. Repeat.

Unless I'm missing something, you can't just Punishing Fire someone out.

Step 1: Cast Punishing Fire with Plateau and Grove, they gain 1 life, then take 2 damage.
Step 2: Make a red with Grove, make them gain 1 life, pay R to return Punishing Fire to your hand.

Opponent is at the same life total as before step 1 if I'm not missing anything.

So it seems if a deck can take out both your critters you can't win.

Grove taps for colorless also.

Use plateau for red instead.
