Hey guys. I was wondering, with the new Snapcast Mage, would it be possible to build a viable deck around wizards? Goblins used to be laughed at, Merfolk used to be scoffed at, and both have turned into tier 1 Legacy decks. I was wondering if the same could be done for wizards.

That's why i'm looking for some good Wizards? I'm thinking of making the deck blue black with perhaps a splash of another colour.

Some suggestions:
Voidmage Prodigy
Meloku
Patron Wizard
Dark Confidant
Snapcast Mage
Sylvan Safekeeper
Yixlid Jailor
...

Thanks!

I guess you would start with something like this. Probably an esper deck. Maybe starting with a stoneblade shell.

4 Bob
4 Sprite
2 Flashback Mage
2 Vendillion Clique
2 Sower of Temptation

4 Stoneforge Mystic

4 Brainstorm
4 FOW
4 Mental Misstep
4 STP
1 Batterskull
1-2 your equipment of choice (Sword of

24 lands
5-6 Duals
6-7 Fetchlands
2-4 Riptide Labotory
4 Mutavault
2-4 basics

Ok, that list looks awful. Needs more Jace TMS.

Don't forget Shadowmage Infiltrator.

Most wizards (good ones) will likely dip into another tribe as well, so don't overlook those interactions. Riptide Laboratory is also probably a must in the deck.

I think the main thing that will keep it from working competitively is the lack of a good lord. I don't think Merfolk would be nearly as powerful if it didn't have so many good lords to help boost the power of its creatures, grant them evasion, or to lock down threats. Patron Wizard is cool, but it doesn't push through the damage a fish deck needs to do.

I was actually thinking of making something around Patron Wizard. Indeed he does not boost the other wizards but when he hits the board, your opponent will have a difficult time resolving a spell.
And you can win from there on with Meloku or something similar.
