5-Card Blind (5CB) is a very unique game.
The rules are as follows:
* Your deck is composed of 5 cards, all of which start in your hand.
* You have no library (technically, the library exists, but starts at 0 cards) and no sideboard (Wishes fetch nothing).
* Random effects always go against the owner of the card.
* You can see your opponent's hand, so you can always make the best possible play.
* You don't lose as a result of not being able to draw a card.
* You will play each opponent twice, once going first, once going second.
* For each win, you score 3.
* For each draw, you score 1.
* For each loss, you get nothing.
* A subgame played with the card Shahrazad where neither player has any means to win the subgame will result in an incomplete game and both players will receive ZERO points for that game, since the main game cannot be resumed. Neither player loses or draws, so neither player earns any points.
* Other than the aforementioned, EVERYTHING IS HANDLED EXACTLY LIKE A REAL GAME OF MAGIC!
Remember, it is important for your deck to include a way to cast your cards! (Lands, artifact mana, pitch cards, etc.)
If you want to play PM me or send me an e-mail in this format:
Subject should include "Vanishing 5-Card Blind" (Just click on the little PM icon above my post and it should work out that way.)
Card #1
Card #2
Card #3
Card #4
Card #5
Be sure you really are happy with your deck before you submit. Once you send in a deck, there is no changing it except in the case of an illegal entry.
Please make every effort to spell your card names correctly. It makes it easier for everyone. Thanks.
The "Vanishing" part is the twist. To start off with, only Unglued, Unhinged and Ante cards are banned. After each round, the 5 cards in the winning deck plus any cards in more than 1/3 of the decks played will be banned for all future rounds.

Any lands that only provide mana are exempted from the banning rules. Exceptions may be made for lands which are deemed too powerful for the environment such as Mishra's Workshop and Tolarian Academy.

NO MISE DECKS!

Any deck submitted MUST have some win condition. Any deck that can do no better than a draw against any possible deck will be rejected. A deck that can't win any game is mathematically eliminated from winning the round, and thus would just be taking a chance to win away from someone who could actually have a shot.

ALL players will assist in judging. The way this will work is that after the submission period is over, After all decks are revealed, judge your own deck against every other deck (going first and going second). Post your findings here in this thread. They will be reviewed by everyone for accuracy. Once a winner is determined the winners deck will be added to the banned list and the next round will begin. Repeated failure to do your own scoring will result in suspensions!

you know today i realized how much the modern bannings remind me of this game a bit. If it "wins" or too many people play it it gets banned...

If I am that powerful and influential, I will take the blame.

The decklists have been posted.

You may use other formats as well, but this one is a must. Also PLEASE make sure you use the proper deck number for your deck. Replace the '?' on the bottom line with the number next to your name on the decklist.

Scoring:

Play your deck against each other deck twice, once with you going first, once with them going first.

Always remember that each deck is to be played perfectly.

For each of the 2 games, score 3 points if your deck wins or 1 point if the game is a draw, with no

points for a loss.

Some examples:
2 wins (WW) is 6 points.
A win and a draw (WD) is 4 points.
A win and a loss (WL) is 3 points.
2 draws (DD) is 2 points.
A draw and a loss (DL) is 1 point.
2 losses (LL) is 0 points.

Plug YOUR deck number into the ? below the ##, and your score against each deck into the other

slots.

Do not play your deck against itself. Just enter an 'x' in the chart under your deck number.

Please copy-and-paste the following code into your Message box in order to assist you with scoring:

code:

## 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 TOTAL

1. yakusoku (Draw-Loss)

Swamp
Swamp
Diabolic Edict
Nezumi Shortfang
Phyrexian Revoker

On the Play: I start with Swamp, Ornithopter, Cry of Contrition. He discards revoker probably. I haunt my Ornithopter. He plays swamp and passes. I play Culling the Weak, making him discard shortfang so he can edict and force a draw.

On the Draw: He starts with Swamp. I start with Ornithopter, Cry of Contrition. He discards Revoker. I haunt my ornithopter. He plays Shortfang. I play Obliterator. He pays 2 to flip and races me.

2. LemonMeringue (Win-Loss)

Chrome Mox
City of Traitors
Magus of the Moon
Manic Vandal
Thorn of Amethyst

On the play: I play Swamp, Ornithopter, Culling the Weak, put out Obliterator. He has no way to kill it. I swing for game.

On the draw: Thorn just ruins my deck. I lose.

3. Bugger (Win-Win)

Plains
Remote Farm
Isamaru, Hound of Konda
Crib Swap
Aura of Silence

On the play: Swamp, Ornithopter, Cry of Contrition. He discards Aura of Silence. He plays Remote Farm and passes. I Culling the Weak, he discards Isamaru. I put out Obliterator. His turn, he uses Crib Swap and I kill him with a 1/1.

On the draw: He starts with Remote Farm. I play Ornithopter, Cry of Contrition. He discards Aura. He plays plains. I Culling the Weak, he discards either Crib Swap or Isamaru. I put out Obliterator. He either makes it a 1/1 OR plays a 2/2. I kill him either way.

4. Pringlesman (win-Win)

Lotus Bloom
Lotus Bloom
Pyrite Spellbomb
Conjurer's Bauble
Second Sunrise

**Not really sure about this one. The interactions in this deck are a bit confusing. Let me know if I'm wrong**

On the play: I put out Ornithopter, Cry of Contrition, haunt ornithopter. I don't know what he discards. He suspends Blooms. I put out Obliterator, making him discard something else. He just loses.

On the draw, the same thing happens.

5. dfitzg88

Culling the Weak
Ornithopter
Phyrexian Obliterator
Cry of Contrition
Swamp

XX

6. Numotflame96 (Win-Draw)

Flash
Woodfall Primus
mox diamond
blinkmoth nexus
island

On the play: Swamp, Ornithopter, Cry of Contrition. He discards Mox Diamond. He plays Island. I play Culling the Weak, and he has to discard a combo piece, and loses to Obliterator.

On the draw: He plays Island, Diamond, passes. I play Swamp, Ornithopter, Culling the Weak, Obliterator. He puts out Primus to kill my swamp. Someone blocks and its a draw.

7. stab107 (Draw-Draw)

Swamp
One with Nothing
Basking Rootwalla
Basking Rootwalla
Vengevine

I put out Ornithopter, Culling the Weak, Obliterator. He discards his hand to put out Vengevine and Rootwallas, but no one has good attacks. If I attack, he can race me by leaving back a creature after taking 15 points of damage, and if He attacks, I just block and make him sac stuff.

On the draw, it looks the same. We just can't kill each other.

Not gonna lie, cry of contrition + culling the weak is pretty clever tech.

Scoring to come later.

I was trying to get it to work for a while but the decks were too fast. Too much discard/insta-kills. Now seemed like a good time... unfortunately, not stellar results.

I actually have two 1/1s and a 4/3. Primus's ETB trigger does nothing and unless you want to sacrifice the Primus on the offensive he's staying home. However, if you disacrd island to the mox and use your blinkmoth you can win eventually, so it really doesn't matter much in the end.

I'm pretty sure primus's trigger would force him to blow up one of his own permanents since you only have 1. he wont be able to activate blinkmoth.

In that case the games go to DD, do they not? Thanks for poitning that out, sometimes ETB triggers that must target get by me.

You are absolutely right. For some reason I assumed the Blooms came back suspended, which doesn't make any sense at all. I should probably stop scoring when I'm exhausted...
