Game Play Error — Missed Trigger Definition A game event triggers, but the player controlling the trigger is unaware of its existence and/or forgets to perform the actions specified by the trigger. For the purposes of this infraction, the card drawn during the Draw Step in a game is considered to be a non-optional trigger. Examples A. A player has Braids, Cabal Minion on the battlefield. After he has declared attackers, he realizes that he has failed to sacrifice a permanent to Braids' upkeep trigger. B. A player realizes that she forgot to remove the final counter from a Suspend spell. C. A player forgets to pay Cumulative Upkeep for a creature. D. A player forgets to reveal and put a card into his hand from his Dark Confidant trigger during his upkeep. I dont know if Dark confident is beneficial or not. Or they can make it easy, by letting the opponent decide the outcome if you forget a trigger. So for example, if you forgot to trigger dark confidant when you are at 20, your opponent will most likely not let you do it, but if you are at 1, he will most likely force you to flip. So that way you have to be conscious of game state bc anything you forget will work against you.

Or the rules as stated in the update just don't include Dark Confidant because of the way the card works, and wondering how it would work is moot. You must do it. Always.

In case anyone stumbles upon this thread in the future:http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75842/28790499/January_2012_IPG_Revisions?sdb=1 Apparently the rule was removed. I think we can all agree it was because they read my post and the issues my examples raised. You're welcome.

As far as I knew the only way to avoid the howling mine effect is if it was tapped before a draw phase. This would be true for any other artifact with a draw phase or upkeep trigger.

Such a simpler fix. "You are not required to inform your opponent of a missed trigger." That's all we wanted. Thank you Wotc.__________________ "He fights you not because you have wronged him, but because you are there."[16:17] <@BrassMan> what do you need new tech for?
