If you put a piece of paper around the top-loader this isn't much of an issue.

its what I do when I ship in PWE, but my preference is to use bubble mailers. I just feel more secure with them I guess.

It really seems like most of the thread is dedicated towards annoyances in trading, so I might be off topic.

But it really grinds my gears when I share the title "American" with people who go:

Japanese and Chinese (and Korean in some small part) are the worst language in the world because it's impossible to pronounce.
It's like Asia is trolling the world with it's alien language.

I wonder why the rest of the world makes fun of us. Heck, even Americans make fun of us. If you've ever seen Jay Leno's "jay-walking" segment, I think you know what I mean.

Thanks for leaving my name out of it but I think I can stand up to my claim.

Try to pronounce a japanese/arabic/chinese/korean language.

Unless you actually speak the language, it's impossible.

It's also impossible to write those languages.

All they are is modern day hieroglyphics imo.

You know what grinds my gears? People who have no clue what they are talking about, esp high end people.

You know what grinds my gears? Making a topic in the T/V and waiting 3 to 7 days for a response. For a site with "50,000 members", I shouldn't have to wait that long.

You know what grinds my gears? The fact the layout of this site hasn't been updated in 10 years.

You know what grinds my gears? People who rip on salvation. You think with "50,000 members" we're a special group? Ha.

You know what grinds my gears? People who rip on americans. USA is the 3rd most populous country in the world. Also, An american made magic.. so please rip on america some more.

You know what grinds my gears? People who complain that most of the GPs are in America. They should be in america. Why shouldn't the bulk of the GP's be in the USA? What reason is there to bring them anywhere else?

You know what grinds my gears? WotC. How is a constructed GP $40 when a sealed event $40? How can they refused to acknowledge the secondary market? There is a reason the promos have been worse year after year.

You know what grinds my gears? WotC 600+ people online ptq. 200+ people northeast ptq. 300+ people ptq at gps. With all of these paying out the same place for first. And then some alaskan/hawaiian/idaho (insert backwater state here) ptq getting 50 people and first gets the same as a 200 person ptq. WTF?!

Show me where I am wrong.

I love English. I like it more than my first language. In fact, I think English is the best language. There are good reasons why it's the global language. But it's certainly not just b/c of my personally opinion.

I don't think you can stand on your claim. You may personally have problems understanding a particular language. But many other people don't. You don't have to be a native speaker to succeed in Japanese or Chinese or any other language for that matter. You might want to look up the word "impossible."

I'm with you in that I also find it gear grinding when people talk about things that they have no clue in.

If you ask a question in the forum and don't get an answer, I don't see how you can become frustrated. Are you asking a question or demanding a response? "I shouldn't have to wait that long." If you're so fed-up with the wait, I'm sure you could have found the answer on your own by then.

If the site lay-out grinds your gears, you can make a better site. I agree with you. This site doesn't have many bells and whistles. But for its purpose, it does alright. MTGSalvation has a lot of really good features. MTGSalvation is a much larger forum and much more mainstream. I don't think any on here rips MTGSal b/c of their forum. I think that they're just ripping its inane members who cry stuff like "ban goyf" or "OMMGG, Sorin is broken I"m quitting b/c everything is $100+ cards."

Yes, I agree with you. It also grinds my gears when people hate on America. America is the greatest country in the world. And when ppl hate on Americans b/c of some poor experience with ignorant people, I feel like they're being a little ignorant themselves. However, with posts like your's, it's not hard to see why some people consistently hate on Americans.

I agree that most GP's should be in the US. There are more players.

If you win a PTQ, you get qualified. 50 players or 1000 players. Same as winning a GP of 500 players or 2000 players. Winning is winning. I figured someone like yourself who plays poker would understand that. If you want soft competition, just go to those locations yourself. How about Alabama? It's close to Florida.

The problem is that these are the people you make money off of.

It's the same thing in poker, you don't mock the fish. You just nod your head silently and keep taking their money.

I think it's very disrespectful to slam a person for their views/thoughts (as long as those views/thoughts are harmless).

Okay, let's put the poker analogy.

Let's say $25 tournament. 40 people so 1k prize pool. $200 would be a fair prize for 1st (and tbf/tbh, it's prob more than that).

Now there is a $25 tournament, but 400 people enter. You think $200 for first is a fair prize?

Also, Alabama is nowhere close to me.

What about when a person has disrespectful views/thoughts?

Since you're a poker player, I find it really weak that you'd complain about 50 player PTQ's being elsewhere. Winning is winning. 50 players or 600 players. Complaining about how your field isn't soft is really weak.

And yes, in your tournament analogy, I believe that the $200 is fair. If that was the posted prize beforehand, why isn't fair that it's the same prize afterwards? It's up to the players to decide whether or not they want to play.

..

You're a fish if you believe the prize is fair.

Also, not all wins are equal.

Thank you so much for degenerating this into a thread like the "People I don't want to deal with" thread, which got closed for people doing crap like this, and the rest of the posts after this. Now, this is closed and any similar thread will also be closed immediately.

Thanks,
