If it's not played in vintage, legacy, modern, or EDH, then why the f is it worth $70+? What gives? It's not THAT rare.

GWB Junk and Team America with snapcaster are disappearing as well. No one splashes for Tarmogoyf anymore. That hasn't happened in like two years. RUG delver uses Sylvan Library and Nimble Mongoose as well. I would call splash to have JUST that card. If they did reprint this card I hope there would be better art as no one knows what is going on in that picture. He would also have to be a rare. If he was Mythic I could see his value skyrocket even more. Rare would put enough goyfs out there that the price would drop since he would be a 4 of in every deck.
From the scg open on 1/16/12 this year there were 3 RUG decks in the top 16 running 4 Tarmogoyfs, and in the last 2 years there have been tons of decks runnig Goyfs, yes recently(the last few weeks) it has seen less play but that has happened to cards in legacy before and they have come back but your statement of Tarmogoyf not being relevent for 2 years is inncorrect and with very little research you can easily find many big legacy events where Goyf is in good decks that run green, hear is a link to the top 16 I mentioned earlier. http://www.starcitygames.com/events/coverage/297_top_16_legacy_decklists.html

Please do not speak of Vintage. You are obviously not a vintage player. Your comments only serve to reinforce your personal prejudice against the format and spread misinformation for others to read. Tarmogoyf will never be reprinted outside a Judge promo or FTV.

The prices of the cards would go down due to reprinting but the set wouldn't be standard legal so you wouldn't have to worry about the most powerful standard ever. They could even decide to have the crap rares still be fringe useful. Stuff like Disrupting Shoal or Leyline of Punishment. Then on the upper end you would obviously have stuff like Tarmogoyf and shocks. Another bonus of doing this would be that things like Vendilion Clique and Arcbound Ravager could be reprinted without having to "fit conceptually". Of course to complete the dream scenario this "modern masters" would all have old card frames, just to make it extra confusing.

woo! necro scoreboarding! I for one am pretty excited about the set even though I already have playsets of most modern cards because it will allow more people to feel like they can be part of the format. I don't know how many people have said, "I'd love to play modern but I only started playing in set X so I don't have any of the cards." I also really like the decision making that it represents, since this move that helps the state of the game - I think something like this would really help legacy too but they have decided that won't be happening.
