Does anyone remember the old Scrye (I think it was Scrye) that used to show a board and your hand and ask you how you could go about winning the game with just the information they had given you? I wish I could remember the name of the magazine or article.. or that someone still did them... they were fun :/

I believe the articles were called Magic the Puzzling and they were in the duelist. Those sorts of challenges are in the duel of the planeswalkers games that have come out in the past couple of years.

I remember back in the day InQuest had that one feature where you were, timmy or something, the worst mtg player ever. You were given a board with whatever layout and you had to find a way to do something unique every month. Like grind yourself or kill all of your opponents creatures but one and stuff like that. It was pretty fun.

Actually, your name was Eugene Dudly, but they were absolutely amazing. The best one was playing a game of Ultimate Chaos (a varient where one uses cards from multiple ccgs, and then plays rules as close to MtG as possible). Your goal was to blow up the Death Star in as few moves as possible. For those that like this kind of challenge, though, you can go to http://www.gatheringmagic.com on Wednesdays and find a new Magic The Puzzling article.

I hated the price guides those magazines published, but the rest of the content was pretty good. Having a physical printed document is much better than having to read something on a screen.
