Hey guys,
I have a fast question for you. I found some old MTG rules books, the ones from the Starter decks. They have the Bog Wraith on them. They are all postmarked 1993. How can you tell what edition they are from? Anyone know?

there is a short story in the alpha rule book, not the beta.

So, the short story is the only difference? Where is the short story located? I found a few books and have no clue when they are from.
Does anyone know what all the starter books look like from the series? is there a site that shows them all? I don't mind moving them.

To follow up, if I have a starter book with Bog Wraith on it, then it is alpha, beta or unlimited? all the other starters for the main set have different pics? I know revised has Shivan Dragon. I've seen the revised one.

That is correct. Alpha will have the story - it is the first thing when you start reading the rules. Beta and Unlimited lack the story and are indistinguishable from each other. Due to the story I know Alpha has more pages, but I'm at work and can't check right now - if you need exact page counts lmk and I'll look it up when I get home in the morning.Take it easy,

OK, quick check and reply:Alpha - 35 pages, story on pages 4 & 5
Beta and Unlimited - 39 pages, no story In Beta and Unlimited books, the story is replaced by a section called "Playing Your First Game". In addition, pages 36-38 are "Clarifications to Rules" and page 39 is an index to the rulebook. Hope this helps  Take it easy,
