What an idiot... I have a friend who makes foils like that all the time, its quite simply but horrifyingly obvious that they are fake

Honestly, if I am looking for some nice proxy for use in cube or some other non-tourney purposes, I will not mind paying workmanship fee of ~$10 per card for such "foil P9" cards.

Why $10? Because the gaming etc foil P9 are about $10 each too.

View it from the point that you are paying $10 as a service fee for the person to transform a foil common to a "foil P9". With jobs paying $12-15/hr, $10 is like 40 mins of labor.

The problem is that the items he is selling violates WotC copyright policy and can be considered a federal offense.

Don't see the problem. Guy probably doesn't know how to end an auction early, so just edited the price/description to make someone not purchase it.

He changed the price and description because he didn't have the item anymore. It's not like he originally listed them for $400. As stated, he just didn't know how to end the auction early.

Ahhh, didn't think about it that way when I first saw it...I had assumed an April Fools joke, or possibly someone hoping to find a really dumb buyer. Looking at the revision history on the auction it does appear that you are correct though. Makes more sense now.

How about this one? I had a good laugh at it myself. Isn't it amazing how the boxes have so many good uncommons that miraculously happen to be showing?

The super long drawn out story is such a dead giveaway. You'd think MTG cards were a recognized currency with how many people seem to pay rent with them according to eBay sellers. The sad part, is that someone is going to fall for it and overpay too.
