My LGS no longer sells Dragonshield, I was just wondering what other sleeves are good to use? I have been using KMC but I've been having bad luck and they keep falling apart.

I have always used Ultra-Pro and for the most part they have been okay. However, sometimes when you shuffle Ultra-Pro sleeves, depending on how you shuffle, the sleeves can tear slightly. Also, most places only have Ultra-Pro in packs of 50 .3.I was actually about to by KMC today, but I wasn't sure how good they were, haha.

Most people tell me KMC are the best sleeves but my Dragonshields have lasted almost 2 years now. My KMC sleeves sides starting getting riffled after like 2-3 months. Only 1 actually ripped so far though.

I got a bunch of packs of D-Shields if you want. Might be prohibitively expensive to ship, but yeah. I think I have like 30 packs of em left.

KMCs are fine. If you've bought D-Shields recently, you would know that something is wrong with the way they are cutting the sleeves - there's as much as 1/8th inch difference in length from sleeve to sleeve, and it's incredibly sloppy looking compared to ultra-pro or KMC.Ultra-Pros break too easily, while KMCs hold up pretty well.

Dragon Shields: Seem to hold up well if thats all you care about. They take a while to start showing wear, but with the slick backs they show eventually. They also tend to get dirty easily.KMC: I dislike them. They don't tear, but they were trash for me half way through a PTQ. They got worn, dirty, and sticky. Ultra Pro: These are my go to sleeves. Lately they've tended to split a little too much for my liking, however they are very good at hiding any wear. I had a set that I ran through a second PTQ because they looked new after going through the first. I will only use plain colored ones with a matte back, however the matte pro annoy me with the cloudy front because foils don't show very well so I avoid those. If you get ones with a glossy back they'll wear very quickly.

Ultra Pro matte black. I bought a pile of them off ebay, came out to about $2/pack of 50 sleeves. But as an aside, you should really never have sleeves for 2 years. Casual decks - 6 months. FNM - 3 months, if that. PTQ/GP - two tournaments MAX. These things are cheap compared to cards/game-losses. Replace the things. __________________ "He fights you not because you have wronged him, but because you are there."[16:17] <@BrassMan> what do you need new tech for? I invested in a case of KMC matte dark blue with KMC perfect fit. My goal was to sleeve all my playable cards. This place has great prices on sleeves: http://www.potomacdist.com/detail.asp?itemid=kmcmtbudpc Pros: -Excellent quality control on the cut of the sleeve. Unlike Dragon Shield I could mix and match cards that had been sleeved out of different packs and there were no jagged/mixed lengths. -Durable and long lasting. Ive tossed about a dozen sleeves due to tears out of the 2000+ ive used. Cons: -A brand new pack looks shiny and clean. It takes less than a day of use for them to get that broken in and slightly worn look. This was a bit of a disappointment but for uniformity since all my sleeves now look like that its not noticeable -Any humidity in the air makes sleeving with perfect fits very frustrating as the sleeves will stick and not want to slide in.

Can someone tell me why they stopped making Yanoman sleeves, which were the best *by far*?

That sounds like an awesome idea. Then I wouldnt have to buy new sleeves forever lol.

I've used KMC for a long time and haven't found anything better. To me a sleeve should be comfortable to hold and preferrably not bulky. I tried Dragonshields but felt like I was holding sleeves edged with jagged sheet metal. That being said, I don't mind sleeves splitting from time to time. In fact, I expect it. If durability is your only concern then as some have noted, DS sleeves are your best bet.

Acording to thor sleeves arent' suppose to last as long as I expect them too. That box of KMC sleeves seems like a good deal then. I usually play magic 2-6 times a week. Not sure what color I will get but I will probably get the giant box.

yah, your expectations are too high if you want them to last that long. When sleeves start to get scuffed and worn, I could almost certainly start to pick out individual cards that are worn differently then others.... aka marked cards. At that point you can't replace just the one sleeve because it would be new vs worn and still be marked so you desleeve the tournament deck and those sleeves become draft/casual sleeves.

That's a pretty high standard, unless cheating has been a problem recently at your FNMs. A good rule of thumb for my area has been to replace sleeves whenever a high-level event hits town, i.r. a SCG Open or a PTQ.

KMC is #1, then Dragonshields. The only reason KMCs are better is that they're all always cut the same length, and are always in production. Otherwise IMO Dragonshields last longer and handle better. Both hold KMC Perfect Fit'd cards well.

I use these exact sleeves! My only complaint is that some of these sleeves are SLIGHTLY smaller than others. Quite annoying, cause I have like 1k of these sleeves and a small amount of them are the wrong size and its kind of hard to tell. Anyway, I dual sleeve my legacy decks with black ultra pro matte (i like matte over slick, slick was a pain to shuffle and kept sticking) and perfect fit sleeves. quote: Originally posted by thror: Ultra Pro matte black.
