I recently put up a post and someone claimed that Alphas have been going up in value a lot the last six months. Has anyone else observed that? Does anyone know why that would be?

Read something recently that ebay ending auctions for really nice Minty Alpha rares (even obscure ones) are going up, in some cases doubling from the last known auction. But anything that is slightly played revert back to earthly prices.

I would imagine that some of it is driven by inflated prices from dealers. Look up anything on ABU that is old an graded. We're talking 75.00 for a 20 dollar card. I don't think anyone buys them for these prices, but it may still have an effect on the prices of 'minty' old cards. It can also be seen that a card like Serendib Djinn, which I collect actually, which is normally like 15 bucks; when ABU has 4 of them that are minty for sixty dollars each, then I have to assume that those four will stay with ABU for eternity, and there for there are four less minty Serendib Djinns amongst players / collectors. This could potentially drive up the price for ANYONE looking for mint Serendib Djinns. Make sense?__________________ Starting the bulk rare collection all over! Send them my way!

Even the price of crappy Alpha stuff has gone up almost two-fold. It's all because I started trying to put together a set.

ABUGames lists their buy price for a M/NM Alpha set at $32,398. A Beta M/NM Beta set much lower at $20,625. That's a 57% premium for Alpha.
