Zen lands have been out for a few years now. Doing a little market research, basically want to know what your favorite and least favorite of each basic land type are from an art perspective. Thanks in advance for participation!

Favorites - Meignaud and Avon for every land type except plains (Meignaud's plains art is just awful, especially in foil).

Least favorites -

Jung Park Swamp (looks like 2 turd piles)

Jung Park Island (looks like a blue mountain)


Favorite foil -

John Avon Forest. I routinely get complimented on those whenever I get to play with them in a tourney.

favorites are mostly split between avon and meignaud while least favorites being a split of park and proce

Proce island is a cool premise, but the color palette just doesn't pop, especially on foils. Avon island foils are things of beauty.

Meignaud Mountain is my favorite of them all, and Proce Mountain is my least favorite of them all.

My favorite artist of these is Meignaud, so all the zendikar basics i want to use are by her..


Forest: #249 Vincent Proce (just a cooler forest than Meignaud in this case)

Island: #236 Veronique Meignaud

Plains: #230 John Avon (best one of the bunch)

Mountain #244 Veronique Meignaud (try to find these in foil, i know someone is buying these puppies out everyhwere!)

Swamp #240 Veronique Meignaud (dont really like any of them)

So..... Veronique Meignaud by far, did not like her plains as much as Park. And for the record (Avon fans may not want to read on...) I didn't like any of Avons art for the the lands in this set.

I liked all of Meignuad's artwork. I actually liked Proce's mountain, I use them instead of Meignaud's. I really think Avon gets praise on his name alone for these lands. While I wont say they are all the worst, some of Park's are awful, I will say none of Avon's ever impressed me.

This feels unfortunate as most of J. Park's other works I greatly enjoy. The Forest in Avacyn Restored is perfect, in Zendikar he either didn't get a good feel for it or was overshadowed by stiffer competition.
