3-Card Blind (3CB) is a very unique game. The rules are as follows: * Your deck is composed of 3 cards, all of which start in your hand. * You have no library (technically, the library exists, but starts at 0 cards) and no sideboard (Wishes fetch nothing). * Random effects always go against the owner of the card. * You can see your opponent's hand, so you can always make the best possible play. * You don't lose as a result of not being able to draw a card. * You will play each opponent twice, once going first, once going second. * For each win, you score 3. * For each draw, you score 1. * For each loss, you get nothing. * A subgame played with the card Shahrazad will result in an incomplete game and both players will receive ZERO points, since the main game cannot be resumed. Neither player loses or draws, so neither player earns any points. * Other than the aforementioned, EVERYTHING IS HANDLED EXACTLY LIKE A REAL GAME OF MAGIC! Remember, it is important for your deck to include a way to cast your cards! (Lands, artifact mana, pitch cards, etc.) If you want to play PM me a message in this format. Subject should include "Vanishing 3-Card Blind" (Just click on the little PM icon above my post and it should work out that way.) Card #1 Card #2 Card #3Be sure you really are happy with your deck before you submit. Once you send in a deck, there is no changing it except in the case of an illegal entry. Please make every effort to spell your card names correctly. It makes it easier for everyone. Thanks. The "Vanishing" part is the twist. To start off with, only Unglued, Unhinged and Ante cards are banned. After each round, the 3 cards in the winning deck plus any cards in more than 1/3 of the decks played will be banned for all future rounds. Any lands that only provide mana are exempted from the banning rules. --------------Current banned list--------------
White: Keening Apparition Blue: Laboratory Maniac Black: Appetite for Brains Duress Sever the Bloodline Red: Bonfire of the Damned Devil's Play Green: Daybreak Ranger Mayor of Avabruck Wolfbitten Captive Multicolored: Abrupt Decay Detention Sphere Geist of Saint Traft Izzet Charm Sigarda, Host of Herons Artifacts: Elixir of Immortality Banned Decks (History) Round 1: s14sh3r Duress Izzet Charm Laboratory Maniac Round 2: tritoch Abrupt Decay Appetite for Brains Sigarda, Host of Herons Round 3: tritoch Elixir of Immortality Detention Sphere Bonfire of the Damned Round 4: junichi Wolfbitten Captive Mayor of Avabruck Daybreak Ranger Round 5: bushe Keening Apparition Geist of Saint Traft Devil's Play --------------End of Banning list-------------- I will try and post a new round every Sunday, allow submissions through Tuesday, reveal deck lists first thing on Wednesday and allow scoring until Saturday. NO MISE DECKS! Any deck submitted MUST have some win condition. Any deck that can do no better than a draw against any possible deck will be rejected. A deck that can't win any game is mathematically eliminated from winning the round, and thus would just be taking a chance to win away from someone who could actually have a shot. ALL players will assist in judging. The way this will work is that after the submission period is over, After all decks are revealed, judge your own deck against every other deck (going first and going second). Post your findings here in this thread. They will be reviewed by everyone for accuracy. Once a winner is determined the winners deck will be added to the banned list and the next round will begin. Repeated failure to do your own scoring will result in suspensions! Edit to add: 1) We will only be using cards from Standard. I know some veterans of the game will gripe and say that Standard is awful in general and worse when you can only use three cards, and you won't get to use your broken decks like Black Lotus, Black Vise, Balance. However, the smaller card pool is less intimidating to newer players and less mental strain to us all. We can change the format soon. 2) Instead of the normal 40+ weeks that I normally try to drag out the tournament, with no clear winner until our numbers diminish into nothing, we will instead be running each round for only 10 weeks, and at the end declare a winner. If you don't like Standard, wait 10 weeks and we'll have a new format. I'd even be willing to put the next format to a popular vote (sorry, no electoral college in this game) and see what most people would like to play. There will be a clear-cut winner after 10 weeks AND the play will rotate more often than usual, so it doesn't get stale. 3) Due to the limitations of the Standard pool, I don't want to restrict everyone to boring decks like Plains, Dryad Militant, Dryad Militant versus Mountain, Pillar of Flame, Rakdos Cackler. So, instead, just for this round, there will be a major alteration of the rules: Each turn, you may put a token land onto the battlefield on your side. This counts as your land for the turn. If a token land leaves play for any reason, it ceases to exist. The ONLY lands you may play this way are the five basic (non-Snow Covered) lands available in Standard - Forest, Island, Mountain, Plains, Swamp. You are free to play with other non-basic lands, but these will count towards your three cards in your deck if you do so. Winner's List:

The decklists have been posted. You may use other formats as well, but this one is a must. Also PLEASE make sure you use the proper deck number for your deck. Replace the '?' on the bottom line with the number next to your name on the decklist. Scoring: Play your deck against each other deck twice, once with you going first, once with them going first. Always remember that each deck is to be played perfectly. For each of the 2 games, score 3 points if your deck wins or 1 point if the game is a draw, with no points for a loss. Some examples: 2 wins (WW) is 6 points. A win and a draw (WD) is 4 points. A win and a loss (WL) is 3 points. 2 draws (DD) is 2 points. A draw and a loss (DL) is 1 point. 2 losses (LL) is 0 points. Plug YOUR deck number into the ? below the ##, and your score against each deck into the other slots. Do not play your deck against itself. Just enter an 'x' in the chart under your deck number. Please copy-and-paste the following code into your Message box in order to assist you with scoring: code:
## 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 TOTAL ?? 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 XX

3. MAB_Rapper Avacyn's Pilgrim Drogskol Captain Drogskol Captain This would have been better last week I think. Let failure begin… 1. yakusoku LL 0 – I can fly, but I can’t handle Lilly. Pack Rat Worldspine Wurm Liliana of the Veil 2. PantySausage WW 6 – By the time Ooze is played and Tracker can be used, I have 2 untargetable 3/3’s. I win the race. Ulvenwald Tracker Predator Ooze Reverberate 4. LemonMeringue LL 0 – Rats are just a little too fast. Pack Rats Worldspine Wurm Vraska the Unseen 5. junichi LL 0 – Olivia can hold back my flyers and Vraska does the rest. Pithing Needle Olivia Voldaren Vraska the Unseen 6. tritoch WL 3 – On the play, I never play Pilgrim and get 2 flyers before he can Return to get rid of my hand. On the draw, I have to play turn 1 pligrim, turn 2 flyer. However, by this point, I lose the race. Shrieking Affliction Pithing Needle Rakdos's Return 7. bushe LL 0 – Easy enough… Dreadbore Entreat the Angels Memory's Journey 8. ectomanic DL 1 – On the play, I play everything before Nevermore. I don’t swing once he gets tokens and we stare, as a full swing will leave him with the same number of flyers as me. On the draw, he has to turn 3 Nevermore to keep me from doing the same thing. I can kill 2 flyers, but not 4. Nevermore Lingering Souls Curse of Stalked Prey 9. Dimh LL 0 – Verdict… ouch. Olivia Voldaren Golgari Charm Supreme Verdict code:

## 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 TOTAL 01 X 6 6 2 6 0 0 6 6 32The matchups that haven't been covered already: 2) I play Liliana, making him lose either Ooze or Tracker. If he loses Tracker, I can make an extra Rat every turn until Worldspine Wurm comes online. If he loses Ooze, I just sit on Pack Rat until Wurm comes out. 8) NVM; I'm able to play Pack Rat turn 2, and just spam rats to win. 9) Liliana makes him lose Olivia. After that, it's just a matter of time before I win with Wurm. 4) If anyone can see a better plan, let me know, but I think we can match each other's Pack Rats or Wurm every turn, with no one getting an advantage. Both of our planeswalkers don't do enough, and losing a turn to play them means an extra activation and attack of Pack Rats over the other guy. Edit: my math is bad and I should feel bad.

I don't think this is correct. Seems to me that you are able to race with a turn 2 rat either way. You should be WW I'm pretty sure.

DimhOlivia Voldaren Golgari Charm Supreme Verdict 1. yakusoku - LL
Pack Rat Worldspine Wurm Liliana of the Veil Charm doesn't save Olivia from Lili. 2. PantySausage - WW Ulvenwald Tracker Predator Ooze Reverberate Between Charm, Verdict, and stealing the ooze if needed, able to take this one. 3. MAB_Rapper - WW Avacyn's Pilgrim Drogskol Captain Drogskol Captain Wraths then Olivia. 4. LemonMeringue - LL Pack Rats Worldspine Wurm Vraska the Unseen I can answer a T2 rat with charm, or Supreme Verdict them away. I can Kill the assassin's with the option I didn't use once, but he will eventually get them again. At this point I will have to use Olvia, who will die to a Vraska. Then I die to wurm. 5. junichi - LL Pithing Needle Olivia Voldaren Vraska the Unseen 6. tritoch - DW Shrieking Affliction Pithing Needle Rakdos's Return On the play, I get Olivia out while being able to kill the Affliction. On the draw, I kill the Affliction and lose my hand to Rakdos's Return. 7. bushe - ?? Dreadbore Entreat the Angels Memory's Journey This is really complicated, and the longer the game goes, the more chance I have of winning. If I can get Olivia out, and be able to steal an angel or two, I might be able to win. Curious on the plays bushe makes for his WW. 8. ectomanic - WW Nevermore Lingering SOuls Curse of Stalked Prey Nevermore can't stop Charm + Olivia, Olivia munches tokens. 9. Dimh - XX

3BB: Gain control of target Vampire for as long as you control Olivia Voldaren. That is what makes it simple. I dreadbore olivia 2x. My first entreat you verdict and then the 2nd entreat wins.

## 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 TOTAL ?? 0 X 0 0 0 6 3 3 0 121: I can't beat that Pack Rat. 2: Myself 3: 6 hexproof damage a turn is just too much for me. 4: Vraska takes out the tracker at some point, and I lose to Pack Rat. 5: Can't beat Pithing Needle, and Olivia takes my ooze. 6: Affliction can't race me, and I atack with ooze or kill him with his own rakdos's return. 7: I play tracker when he has 4 mana both games. I lose on the draw to a 2nd entreat 1 turn before lethal. 8: Nevermore destroys me on the draw. On the play, tracker wipes his game plan out. 9: Verdicts (or pings with Olivia) the tracker, then Charms the ooze. I never had a chance.

Here is how I think this plays out when I'm on the play: you play tracker turn 1, I kill tracker on turn 2 so you attack 1x and then cast ooze on turn 3 (19-20). Turn 4 you attack (17-20). Turn 5 I entreat for 1 angel. You attack but I block. Turn 6 I attack (17-16). You attack (13-16). I journey on entreat Turn 7 I entreat for 4 angels and you copy it. I attack and you block (13-16) angels are (4-3). You attack and I block all angels (8-16) angels (1-0). I journey on entreat. Turn 8 I entreat for 5 angels and attack with one (8-12). You attack (2-12). Turn 9 I attack (2-0). This also works if you save the reverb for the 3rd entreat since I will never cast it. Let me know how you see it playing out.

Except I can see your hand in the rules we are using, so I don't cast tracker on 1. I cast on 4, so that you can either dreadbore my tracker or cast entreat, but not both. In either case, the ooze attacks you for 2 on this turn. You must dreadbore here, so you take 3 the following turn (would have been 5 if you opted to entreat instead of dreadbore). If you entreat for 1 now, you will block, and then take 6 on the next turn when you must cast memory's journey, dropping you to 9. After you have selected targets for memory's journey, I will cast reverb and shuffle in your dreadbore. 50% to draw dreadbore, and the rules say the odds always go against you. You draw dreadbore and take 7, dropping you to 2. You're right. I lose this on the play; assuming you don't choose entreat over dreadbore on 5. Since the rules say you will make the best play, then you won on the play.

Just a heads up to followers of the game. I'm still going to collect scores and declare a winner, but I will delay the start of the next round (#7) for a week. Having the last day to enter on Tuesday this week isn't good for the game.Take a week off and think up new decks to play!
