Yes, you'll get plenty of bad offers. Just ignore it and move on.

Welcome to the wonderful world of bad deals. That dosen't sum up MOTL in its entirety. There are good trades to be had here. You just have to dig really deep for them.

Less digging, and simply more patience. There are a TON of trollers looking to get a great deal off new posters. It's really no different from walking into a new card shop.

Though there are always people who make bad offers (I'm sure I've made some bad ones myself), there are just as many that have the cards you need and even if they need a premium, don't ask for ridiculous amounts

And if I didn't know what I was doing and took his offer, then who's under the bus? There should be a list called "old timers that are likely to take advantage of newbies". When I saw his "offer" and his refs, I had to triple check the prices of the cards just to make sure that I was actually reading what I was reading. Never thought someone with that high of refs would try something this low quote: Originally posted by Zeckk: Less digging, and simply more patience. Thanks for the advice

meh, why? He made the offer, he shouldn't have anything to be ashamed of, right? You'll run into plenty of members that just grind bad offers all day long. They eventually get someone to take them or they wouldn't do it, right? Standard tactic is to make you a "fair" offer based on a card's price from a week ago that spiked due to a tourney or something. $1 craterhoof? $2 hellrider? Sometimes its too easy... then again I don't really bother w/ trading on here. Buying and selling is way easier.

Oh, it's not just old timers picking on newbies... For example, from my current sales list, a post made by someone with 11 refs vs me being in the TOp 30 on the site: quote: Originally posted by xxxxxxxxx: I can offer $60 for 2 Sorin, LoI, 4 Isolated Chapel, and 4 Delver of secrets shipped.
Bear in mind that Sorin is listed $15 right now, Isolated Chapel is listed at $8, and a playset of Delver is $2. So that is $64 before shipping and I get that offer. Those offers come about all the time. I started responding to them as I have been getting compliants about me ignoring people and I'm wishing I would just continue to ignore them. __________________ My 2008 Nationals The Official Tower Magic Facebook Page hilikuS: Also, as much as MAB's list has become the list on the T/A Forum, I do miss Slinga's.

Someone offering you $6 below your listing price on a $60 deal doesn't really seem that bad. I'm not saying I would take it if I was in your shoes though, Sorin @ $15 is already a pretty good price. quote: Originally posted by MAB_Rapper: Oh, it's not just old timers picking on newbies... forget about ignoring them, I'm tempted to find out how far i can push the "no blacklist" rule in my threads. There are some people who are just a waste of my time. I get terrible offers from some, others post they want to buy a ton of stuff then never reply to emails. They can post on my thread outlining exactly what cards, agree to shipping, etc... I send them payment info and they never reply, yet I can't BTA them because they don't reply to confirm anything. Its assumed they're sending first cause I run a zero exception policy on that one, but it doesn't quite fit into any rules :/ /end rant also, on a positive note, so far my sales list I posted yesterday is running fairly smooth so far, hopefully everyone gets back to me today so I don't have to relist stuff.

Agreed. But the you get people thinking that anything over $100 is a big deal and should be auto discounted, even if my prices are at or slightly below E-Bay. My simple response is that I have done deals 5 times as big as their "offer" without a discount ever being offered by the buyer. Note: If you look at my sales list, I am not talking about the first reply. That offer was perfect as it reflected E-Bay pricing and I was slightly high. __________________ My 2008 Nationals The Official Tower Magic Facebook Page hilikuS: Also, as much as MAB's list has become the list on the T/A Forum, I do miss Slinga's.

This was hilarious because you cried about chapel being 8... when it's listed at 7 on stu's list, on a list I linked you, and I got one for 6 the other day... and people will include shipping for me fairly frequently. I mean, it's fine to decline it, but to act offended at an offer, claim e-bay as your price source, then decline similar prices to what I asked for on the forums, like I'm going to give you ebay prices for stuff when I get 1. free shipping on e-bay, and 2, the seller is paying fees (not the buy), is hilarious. It's within your right to decline any offer. It's hilarious that you were acting like it was a rip-off offer.

And to be fair; delvers aren't always throwins (or shipping isn't a throwin) all the time, and your sorin prices were good (reflected in me buying just them later on), but I think it's funny that you felt this was an outrageous offer, comparable to the first post. That guy wanted ~2for1 trading, not ~10% total off (if you want to look at it like that).

Stu isn't giving you free shipping and neither am I, LOL. Go try to buy on Ebay for 7 shipped when they are averaging ~7.50 + shipping.

I know he's not giving free shipping... however, neither was mab, and he wanted me to pay 8. Also, you ignore that on ebay the seller is eating fees, not the buyer.

walkerdog seems like a complete troll but the offer to MAB isn't ridiculous as the offer to OP's was.

You bought the Sorins, so you were offering less than 7 each shipped on the lands and wanting a free playset of delvers too.

TBH, your post was the only example I had at the time. There have been far worse, but those are on deleted sales lists. If I had the example from last week, I would have much rather posted that one then yours. My main point is that MOTL is full of people looking to either nickel and dime people to death or use MOTL to try and profit. Now granted, I might be in the latter of those, but I don't do it by putting up a buy list on my sales thread and buy cards for less than I sell. __________________ My 2008 Nationals The Official Tower Magic Facebook Page hilikuS: Also, as much as MAB's list has become the list on the T/A Forum, I do miss Slinga's.

Sure. At the same time, it was an offer. Had he wanted to come down to 7 on chapels, or do free shipping, I would have done either way. I'm not saying MAB was wrong; it's his cards/money! I'm saying that we talked prices a bit, and I didn't feel that my offer was a rip-off, although it was certainly on the low end.

That's fair, I mean, I DID post the offer. I'm not trying to nickel and dime people really, I just had a set price I wanted to pay on a particular lot, and I wasn't willing to come off of it much.

The complaint the OP is making is like going to a poker tourny and complaining that everyone is trying to bluff you.

No, it's like going to a poker tournament, drinking a drink with a roofie, and being upset you got roofied.
