Just a quick question/poll. Which of these would be more "pimp" as the kids call it nowadays: FBB Duals or Altered boarderless UNL Duals? I don't have the resources to get Alpha or Beta, but I think I can pull off a full 10 of either of the two choices listed. Just wondering which would be cooler.

By todays standards just simply having original duals in any form is "pimp" enough. I own all revised duals with a few unlimiteds but if I was looking to get FBB I would go with German.

I'd certainly respect you less if you destroyed a set of 10 duals. If you tracked down some fbb versions, that'd be fairly sweet tho.

They're only ruined by modification if you are planning to sell them later.

Making a card something I personally enjoy more and value more doesn't "ruin" it.

Do what you like.

You don't plan on selling something until suddenly you do. What happens when he does get the budget for betas? When some life change turns cards into an expendable resource, etc. Alters are fine on something that has personal value, but I just don't see how dual lands can fit that bill.

Well the UNL dual land idea was to pick up some HP/damaged copies and then get them altered as a kind of restoration, not to take NM copies and then get them painted.

Taking heavy played UN Duals and altering them isnt the worst thing in the world. Should you decide to sell them you will probably find a buyer who thinks they are cool especially if you have them done by a skilled artist and or someone famous.

That all be said, personally I would go for FBB and then get things that are more common altered. For example instead of buying a foil MM Brainstorm, get a regular Ice Age one altered.

Honestly... I like WB Duals in EDH since you are always fetching lands and it makes them easy to find in a BB deck.

quoted for truth. The white borders save a lot of time. I almost wish the shocklands had white borders too.

FBB is pretty pimp if you could afford it, but altered cards have a personal significance to me that I appreciate more.

I still personally wouldn't alter them, because if the need to sell them ever arises, you have shrinked the potential buyer pool, and depending on the quality of the alter the easier or harder it can be to find the individual who may want it out there, if well done I'm sure you can move it, unless the alter thing is just a fad that goes away.

You should get a set of altered foil print dual lands because they are SUPER pimp and that is the best way to invest your money. Otherwise, get your set of duals altered with sexy anime babes and you would be the envy of the Magic players in your local scene.

Agree with this. the white borders are very helpful when fetching. There are only a handful of cards in my decks that have a WB, and the majority are usually duals.

I think you could make more on an altered dual than a very heavily played dual. In fact, I've altered duals myself simply because the were destroyed. Guess what, they sold for a little more than a NM copy would.

My duals are printed on the computer. I have too many decks.

If I were to use real duals, they'd be unlimited.

All poxy14 altered duals! Hate white borders but am too lazy to get betas and non-english cards don't jive with me for EDH.
