You send one ounce for 1 IFS. Sure cool, but the cost of that went up a nickel due to the changes. As it was, I'd end up putting 2 regular forevers and 2 dime stamps, and lose a nickel. Now I just lose 2 cents. I don't foresee that cost (for PWE) going up super high.

Really? Why didn't you just put a 10 cent stamp on and a 5 cent stamp. That equals 15 cents. Or a 10 cent and two 2 cents and a 1 cent. Also 15 cents.

LOL, I dunno I just ended up buying the 10 cent ones. I only paid 40 cents for the forevers anyhow...

Reason why I didn't get nickel stamps = I'm dumb.

If you're sending more than one ounce, doesn't it end up wasting postage in the end? You're still tossing multiple stamps on there anyway. If you use only the IFS's you'll end up wasting postage.

It's a forever stamp. If the price goes up (provided the weight guidlines don't change), the stamp is still good.

hilikuS: Also, as much as MAB's list has become the list on the T/A Forum, I do miss Slinga's.

Hey guys well this is pretty bad news for me. I've found it hard to trade on here at the best of times due to my international status. These mailing cost changes in the US are just going to make it harder.

Even if I conceded that MTG cards from the USA will still be cheaper than other countries (which isn't true for low-mid value items anymore at ALL) the increased shipping cost still eats into the seller's profit margin, and if it doesn't, it just means you were selling your cards too cheaply before.

Example:

Previously,

Hypothetically, card X was available at an average global (non-US) price of $50+ $2 shipping. That meant a US seller could charge, say, $49+ $2 shipping and make sales assuming shipping was equal (which was a possibility).

Now,

Card X is still available at an average global price of $50+ $2 shipping. If the US seller still charges $49 + actual shipping, why would anyone buy from them now that the total cost has gone up for them by about $6-7 from $49+2 to $49+9? In order to still make sales, the US seller will have to lower their asking price to maybe $42/43 + actual shipping if they want to still charge actual shipping. Sure, you can "pass on" the shipping costs to buyer, but they are only going to be looking at their total out of pocket expense when making a comparison.

And as I said before, if you are still cheaper now after the extreme rate increase than your global competition, that just means you were shorting yourself previously by selling on the cheap.

Except not really. Because the market prices for card X and card Y in the US are $20. That's a fair price so it doesn't really fluctuate. In Europe, a fair price, after conversion rate, is $28. So a European that needs 4 each of X and Y doesn't care about shipping going from $4 to $8 because they're still saving $56 by buying from the US instead of Europe. Now for small MOTL type sellers and traders, you guys get screwed over because your transaction size is smaller, no doubt about that

The cost to Canada for a "Large Envelope" is $2.05 for 1 ounce, $2.25 for 2 ounces, and $2.45 for 3 ounces. The cost to other (all?) countries is $2.05 for 1 ounce, $2.90 for 2 ounces, and $3.75 for 3 ounces.

anyone confirm any of this via shipping something yet? I typically use #000 bubble mailers and they should be able to stay under 3/4" for a majority of my sales any how. $3.75 seems reasonable, in fact its less than I was paying as a package... maybe I should have been shipping as a large envelope all along.

The have introduced International Forever Stamps, which are much like the ones we have for domestic use. Right now, it is $1.10 for a letter up to an ounce anywhere around the world (2 ounces for Canada and Mexico). Problem is, how often will the letter with cards in it be under an ounce? Under 2 oounces is doable, so it might just be a matter of getting Canadians to never hold me liable.

This guys^^

There are a heck of a lot of Canadian buyers on here who are very happy to waive liability on small PWE orders from established sellers. I understand this is a big pain for you guys, but there is no need to exclude Canadian buyers. Just be clear on your new terms, and the majority of us who are comfortable with them will keep buying.

Another problem is going to be with trades, where maybe US traders could put a ***Max 4 cards/trade to Canada*** clause or something rather than going to US only. So we won't be swapping bulk rares anymore, but doesn't mean we can't do business.
