When do you think Modern Season is pretty much over by? Regionally or just when most people will have their cards already

modern season is the time in which modern gets played. this year, modern started early (wotc wants people playing it, and they're pushing it) and is going to get played through october (pro tour format is modern). a lot of the ptq's for that PT are going to be modern as well. __________________ "He fights you not because you have wronged him, but because you are there."[16:17] <@BrassMan> what do you need new tech for? The biggest influence is the PTQs. Gets a lot of people scrambling for decks. However, keep an eye on June of this year. Modern Masters hits stores on the 7th, and I would assume they are going to do a spoiler build-up leading to the release. A lot of uncommon and common prices are going to drop, and it's possible that some of the higher-value rares like thoughtseize and noble hierarchs dip a bit.

I'm not sure what the OP is asking either.

It's because the current PTQ season is Modern format.

If that's the case then there is a very simple answer, the date of the last PTQ. The OPs second sentence seems to indicate he's thinking of something different.

Extended was a "season" and the last LGS I played at tried to cater to that. When the season stopped, player base fell off. From where I sat, not having a constant extended player base killed anything but FNM. Sure they showed up every now and and then but on a weekly? nope. So WOTC goes, the first ~ is Modern is pretty lame. they already said Modern is a sanctionable format, then make it more a reason than playing on every other second full moon.

Also, some modern legal cards could see a quick price jump and then go back down again throughout the year at anytime for if a big GP modern event is announced anywhere in the US.

Because volatile prices scare some players away from the format. WotC has decided to give enough ****s about the format to release Modern Masters this summer to add more playable modern staples to the market. Increased card availability = increased format demand = increased sales for sets with modern format impact = WotC employees keep their jobs.
