The owner of our only local hobby shop passed away yesterday. He was a great man and was loved and adored by many. He always greeted everyone by name as they entered the store and always gave his special "discounts" to those of us he knew for many years. He never cared about prices so much as being a kind man. His purpose of the shop was to have a place where kids could come and be off the streets and away from bad temptations and that is what he did. I tear up as I write this because it was far too soon for this amazing person to pass. Nobody knows what will become of the 2nd home many of us grew to love and came to feel safe and enter a land that was different yet familiar at the same time without the fear of being made fun of. That is the spot where every gamer, comic geek, and sports nut could come to feel like one of the same. You were a great man and we will miss you.

What a drag man. Sounds like he was well loved. Sorry for your loss.

My lgs owner is in his seventies. I dread the day I show up and there's no one there, be it because he said screw it and retired, or for another reason. I'm sorry for your and your area's loss.Hopefully someone can step in to fill his big shoes.

So sorry to hear about your loss. I've looked up to and have grown to respect many people in my area involved in this game in some shape or form over about the last 18+ years whether it's store owners who either passed away, retired from the gaming/comic business, went out of business for one reason or another, or also older players who I looked up to growing up playing the game. It's these type of people who I learned from, both from the playing side of this game and to the buying, selling, and trading side of this game. I will probably never be a store owner myself but I am always willing to take what I know and have learned and pass it on to new people getting into the game.
