So what's with people using the abbreviation MM for modern masters, that's not the right one, its MMA. MM is Mercadian Masques. Ive not been playing magic that long but come on people. Took less then 5 mind to figure that out.

I'm also lazy enough to not go and change my post. Its enough info for people to figure out they are reprinted cards, thats enough for me.

So when people put "Brainstorm (MM)" on their lists, they DON'T mean Modern Masters brainstorm, as well as "Tarmogoyf (MM)" isn't Masques goyf?

Sorry to break your thread, but each set has a three letter abbreviation, not two. Mercadian Masques is MMQ, while Modern Masters is MMA. Those are official, and anything else is shorthanded, unofficial notation.

Other than squee there really isnt any cards that crossover between the 2 sets. And if you are looking for squee and are picky about set I hope you could be smart enough to ask. If the trade matcher/set database was updated for these cards in the modern masters set I could see your complaint as then the system may not recognize the proper set when you are searching for a trade match on a particular set of the card. But for now when I see it I just use common sense and don't let it bother me. :P

Since we all enjoy being pedantic, the 3-letter designations didn't come along till later (sometime after Mirrodin if I recall). Prior to that, it was only 2-letter designations (IA, MI, TE, US, etc.), and Masques was indeed just MM.

While it does throw me for a loop, and I can certainly appreciate the frustration with it, I think it's best to just suck it up and let people do what they will. You can lead by example, but beyond that, I'd just live with it.

As a massive mixed martial arts fan i completely concur.

While technically correct if people start talking about MMA on here i'm gunna think the pot bellies, bad facial hair and cartoon figure t-shirts have been replaced by 6-packs, protein shakes and 'do you lift?' singlets.
