We have a few stores in my area that price differently. One uses SCG One uses SCG and puts the tag on it only never updates the price ever again. One uses tcg high. I say this because while I have a deal worked out with some of the stores to buy them at discount, setting up something at new stores can be quite a hassle if they never mark the prices till you inquire about a card and then look up SCG price.

I have two stores near me. 1. Does random stuff, but usually does TCG mid prices. Occasionally things will be a little higher, but for every card that is higher, I'll find one that is substantially lower.
2. Straight up channel fireball prices. This stores has become quite successful and has actually had the same company that created channel fireball's website make one for them. They are usually more expensive than store 1, but with the selection and knowledge available, I'm happy to pay the premium.

Every store I've been to in Vegas is SCG straight up, unfortunately even for bulk rares.

WellStore #1 is ABU, so they use ABU prices Store #2 uses a mix of TCG Mid/High with some ABU prices tossed in for good measure. Store #3 marks prices once based on what he thinks they should go for, never alters prices afterwards, sometimes good sometimes bad, sometimes you get 8$ Deathrites, sometimes you get 40$ Planeswalkers regardless of walker.. Store #4 is just starting and seems to be a mix of price as you go and TCG high. If I can ever get a store opened, I'm looking at TCG Mid on most things, maybe TCG high on super liquid stuff.

At my LGS, it depends on who is at the counter. The store owner uses SCG pricing strictly. A couple of his other guys will use TCG mid or SCG SP pricing depending on the type of deal.

Most stores sell based off of SCG pricing. How they buy from people is another story.

Would that happen to be Collector's Inn? I haven't been there in a while but when Jim ran that place he pretty much gave cards away.

The store I frequent uses TCG mid. I love the stores that use SCG and don't reprice the cards often. It's very satisfying buying under priced cards from stores like that.

I need to go to Buffalo for other reasons than playing Magic, unless it involves one Madonia. Stores here on LI tend to be around SCG pricing, though can on occasion can be a little lower. Mostly depends on the cards. __________________ My 2008 Nationals MOTL's Pro-Tour Winner 2007-2009 Tower Magic FacebookhilikuS: Also, as much as MAB's list has become the list on the T/A Forum, I do miss Slinga's.

TCG mid for standard cards and TCG high for Modern/ Legacy cards. Depends on how badly the people want cards at our shop too. Selling an SP- FoW for $80 and a SP+ Savannah for $90. I say no thank you

Yes, it is Collector's inn. Great little shop. Has a new owner now, but, still carries on Jim's message of low cards for everyone. You will pay a fair price there. I am trying to talk him into creating a website that anyone can buy from...

I have been to collectors inn a few times. Seemed a little mom/pop to me though. I am in the area monthly and always hit up Jesters Cap. Steve is the man and is very fair trading/selling!

2 things: 1. Not sure when you were last at Collector's inn, but, Jim retired and Joe is the new owner. He has tons of cards and packs now. I heard bad stuff about cap. Never been there though, and I heard the new owners are kinda cheap, unless u spend a ton of dough...

my stores seem to use SCG...even if they've marked the price they look it up before selling and then raise it if it's gone up on SCG. TIL: Next time i go to Niagra Falls, go to Buffalo and buy some mtg cards.

Exactly SCG. Which means slightly cheaper than SCG because no shipping cost.

Local store here says they use SCG, but it seems they use low. However, if you can pull up ebay auctions x3 with relatively same price, they will honor it. Even cheaper if trading and not buying.__________________ -Schmitty, MOTL's Psychiatrist T-73rd in Refs [314] on MOTL (with Raistlin) 2nd in Refs [314] in OH-IO (60 behind souladvocate) 1st in Posts in OH-IO (Passed the legendary ValMTG) “If Brad Stevens is the future of coaching in college basketball, the sport is in a good place" - Rick Pitino

Star City here for sales. Trade for your cards at buylist to their SCG sell list prices. I guess that's pretty standard, but being a 12 year MOTLer it seems ludicrous. People do trade fairly regularly though.I think the ones out in Syracuse use TCG Mid, which is IMO pretty good. Those stores are comic/TCG hybrids though, so they have other income streams. The ones around here are pretty much MTG only. Also, what the heck is SCG high and low? Like, the price for played cards is low?

Actually, cards are worth different prices in different places. It really depends on the metagame. For ex, Defense Grid was a 1.00 rare in Buffalo. I had 6 of them. For those who don't know, Defense Grid is an artifact that hoses Blue because spells played during someone else's turn cost 3 more to play. So, I went to Columbus OH for Origins and the one guy saw my Defense Grid and offered me $6.00 CASH for them, each. Obviously, I said yes, and called home to a few friends who all had Grid, brought them out around town, and went to Ohio and sold them all for 6.00. That is a perfect example of how the high, low, and med prices work. Very rarely are cards universal. And as we all know, magic is a game of copying or neutralizing. In other words, if Lilliana of the black Veil is ultra popular, or Blue, or whatever, then other people will either play those decks (thereby driving the price up) BUT, the counters to these decks (after all. Magic is the ultimate Rock, Paper, Scissors game) also rise dramatically in price. So, High, Low, and Medium reflect the prices around the country. I know many of us can't believe that some stores get those high prices, but, alas, I saw my Defense Grid that I had and would have gladly sold for 1.50 each, instead sold for 6.00 each, and I saw them SELL OUT within a few hours at 10.00 each. So, cards are really worth what people will pay, or trade for them.
