Interesting tournament coming up at a store near me.You pick 6 packs from a set and make a sealed deck You can pick: Mirrodin ($60) Shards of Alara ($30) Zendikar ($72) (sold out) Rise of Eldrazi ($60) (sold out) Avacyn ($30) M11 Japanese ($25) M12 ($30) M13 ($30) M14 ($30) Theros ($30) 3 innistrad 3 Dark Ascension ($36) Scars (cant remember if its the whole block) ($30) Odyssey (can't remember if its the block) ($40) Modern Masters ($60) (sold out) RTR block ($30) Lorwyn ($60?) There are 32 players. each block gets 2 players. First/second gets a FTV 20 set. 3rd/4th get a foil zen fetch, 5-8th get 2 packs drafted from each of the sets in play. So, assuming I'm an above average player, which set out of the ones left should I play to maximize value? I like M12 but the cards are all worthless. M14 is worth more but the cards are underpowered. Which should I pick? Also, are the Zen/ROE/MMA players gonna smoke everyone?

from my knowledge, don't pick: a core set ROE AVR Scars Since its sealed deck zendikar seems weaker. RTR/INN/Mirrodin seem like good bets to me.

original mirrodin can be insane. 6x mirrodin packs? do that.__________________ "He fights you not because you have wronged him, but because you are there."<@Anusien> Pretty sure New Zealanders are the sheep shaggers <KIP_NZ> Anusien: I'm a kiwi and I've shagged a sheep <KIP_NZ> we kiwi's like our sheep

Feels like RTR seems bad though because you have to use 2 packs from each set in the block. There would be too many unplayables cause of all the gold cards right?

My preference, in order would be:ROE SOA LRW INN/DAS The SOA one is super sexy at that price, though.

Depends. What kind of prize support are you looking at? Because if you're going for the win, I would probably go with Lorwyn or a core set. If it's not worth it, Lorwyn or Shards of Alara.

M13 if you want to win (seriously, check the common/uncommon removal options in the set), LOR or ALA if you want decent value and a decent chance at a powerful pool.Sucks ZEN is taken, R/W landfall or B/R killthings.dec are pretty absurd options, even in sealed.

Tribal in sealed could be strong so I would go with Lorwyn.

Lorwyn is terrible. It's possibly only better than triple saviors of kamigawa.

MM would definitely be the best, Mirrodin is a really fast set so in sealed you could do some serious damage, I would go that route.

Mirrodin. Warhammer and Crystal Shard are both bomb uncommons that can totally take over a game.__________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

Oh man, Odyssey just for the sheer legacy of playing madness or treshold. Mongrel or Werebear T2. Ah good times.__________________ I'm a geek, you're a geek.
