MOTL Tools Chrome Extension What it aims to accomplish
- Create a trade matcher not dependent on sets being updated in the MOTL database.
- Allow trade matches to be one-sided.
- Make the H/W list search relevant again.
MOTL Tools does the above and more. Since this is a Chrome extension there are a few caveats to just about all the features. Below I will explain each feature and detail known issues.Search Feature The search feature will only search the links on the H/W or Auction page you are on. Currently, MOTL lists 90 links. If I were to make the extension search more than that, it would most likely crash Chrome. Actually, most likely is misleading. I tried it reading five pages at a time and it did in fact, crash Chrome. It was built on a quad core with six gigs of RAM. It still crashed. Searching the H/W lists will show all lists with the card you searched for. It will also try to show if the list has a foil or non-foil version. If the list did not use foil tags properly, it will not know if the card is in fact foil. I can’t help that. Trade Matcher When on an individual H/W list, clicking the MOTL Tools icon, it will search your stored list and try to match any card name listed. What it does that the current trade matcher doesn’t do is that it will list any card you want or have they matches the currently viewed H/W list haves and/or wants. For example, If on my list I want Berserk and on the list I am viewing they have a Berserk listed, it will show they have one regardless if I have anything they want from my haves. The trade matcher and search feature is not case sensitive but, it does want you to actually spell the card correctly. Dark Confidant is not Bob. Jace AOT is not a card. And, if a card name has a comma, it has a comma. Ref List Clicking the MOTL Tools icon, while viewing a ref list, will add a sorting feature. This way you can sort refs by date to see how recent traders have been trading. You can also now choose what traders you want to send an inquiry to. Before, selecting the random people, would more likely than not select users that have not been active for years. Inbox There is an inbox option to space the buttons at the bottom out to hopefully prevent accidentally clicking the ‘delete all’ button. Card Highlight You can highlight a card name and right click. In the tooltip, you will see “Look up: [Card Name]. This will launch a pop up window with TCG Player prices and the card image. It is not set specific. Most options, when on the option page, should hopefully be self-explanatory. If they are not, please post back on this thread. I will try to clean things up as it goes. Caveats and sort of FAQ
- I did email Leshrac about using MOTL in the name of the extension. I tried to clearly state that I and the extension have no direct relation with MOTL. If I need to change the name, I will. As of writing this, I have not heard anything back from Leshrac so I am going forward.
- Spelling is important. If you are searching for Elspeth, Knight-Errant, spell it with commas and hyphens. That’s the cards name.
- The card highlight look up does have my TCG Player affiliate id attached. I would get a whopping 1% commission.
- Why is this a Chrome extension and not [insert your browser here]? I don’t normally use Chrome. I do though have half dozen browsers installed. It’s my job. Chrome extensions just felt the easiest to build for.
- What's the point of you copying your list into the MOTL tool? The extension does not have access to the database. Copying your list into the extension’s options creates your own database of sorts. The extension uses your list of cards to make matches.
- The H/W list importing feature will not support multi-line foils. Meaning each foil card needs to be wrapped in it's own [foil][/foil] tag.
It’s not perfect. It’s not going to be. It does fill a gap in MOTL that I felt needed to be filled. I’ve been using it in testing for some time and felt it is good enough to let you all try. v2.4.0
- Fixed an issue with having the T/a&S Search always on and returning no results
- Cleaned up a small piece of code that's been bugging me.
v2.4.1
- Switched APIs to retrieve images.
v2.5.0
- Added the ability to import your lists with a push of a button.
- Made the import and clean up remove all text in [exclude][/exclude] tags.
v2.5.1
- Fixed image issue finding the correct card, eg: Searching for Gloom would result in the latest card with Gloom in it's name. As of 06.23.16 that was Autumnal Gloom.
- Changed how the search results work so that the 'okay' button only appears after all the results load.
- Made the search criteria persist over multiple pages.
- Added some minor conditionals.
Known Issues
- The list importer sometimes pulls from a cached H/W list due to an error in the MOTL redirect.

I love it!One question though: What's the point of you copying your list into the MOTL tool? Does it do something with that (edit: I should say "besides trade matcher)? __________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. We don't like games. We don't know games. It will help with cards in the newer sets, that aren't calculated in the trade matcher. As well as if you are on a certain page, it will let you know what cards you have of their wants, and what cards they have of your wants (like the trade matcher), but it will also let you know if one person has another person's wants, but it isn't reciprocated. Such as you have 10 cards from my wants, but I have nothing of yours. It will still provide information that you have cards I need (something the trade matcher doesn't do).

I love it and you're the best. The only other wish I have is that it would "understand" UBB formatting so that I don't have to separate foils and non-foil when inputting Haves and Wants. It's minor to me now, but the initial setup can be a bit of a hassle. Other than that, not a thing. I mean honestly, it's great as-is. Oh yeah, is there a way to get the search function to search Sales & T/A lists? __________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. We don't like games. We don't know games. Hmmm, yeah the UBB thing, that should be doable. Not sure why I did it the way I did (been a while) so I'll see.Searching the t/a and sales, probably doable too. I noticed the site I was getting card images is down so I guess I'll look into fixing that too. All this for the 24 users that are using the extension but, seeing that the H/Ws are only 3 pages now, that is almost all of MOTL now

That's what I mean, but it never shows results even for cards that I know are on lists.EDIT: Maybe I'm doing it wrong? How do you use the search on that page? __________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. We don't like games. We don't know games. We can't read minds. v2.5.0 is up. Changelog edited to the first post.chaos021, I noticed when testing the import feature that your headings (artifacts, lands, etc...) show up. I added as part of the importer to remove all content within [exclude][/exclude] tags. So if you want to wrap the heading and any other extraneous text in them, they wont be imported. __________________ NEQUAQUAM VACUUM MOTL Tools Chrome Extension

No update right now as most of it works fine. I did happen across a list that it didn't work on and I think I know why so I'll look into it when I have more time. For the time being, updated my list, used the search and made three trade offers. Still works. __________________ NEQUAQUAM VACUUM MOTL Tools Chrome Extension <- It's a friggin' trade matcher!

Unfortunately, well unless I missed an announcement, Chrome extensions aren't available for Chrome for Android (yet) so for now, it's just desktop.
