I'm going to Vienna to play some poker tournaments and while I'm there, the GP will be happening. Is there as much trading as at N. American GPs? Worth heading down there on a day off to trade?

From my understanding trading is very strict and if you look like you might be a "store/backpack dealer" you'll get booted.__________________ Member Since 03/28/2001 12000+ posts 1st in posts in Ontario and Canada 9th in posts on MOTL 5th in Refs in Ontario Pushing to get to top 100 in MOTL Refs

I'll only have my crappy trade binder Might do a draft or two unless the prices are as absurd as the GP price... 50 euro, really?

This is correct. At Prague GPs tournament staff wander about to observe traders for appearances of this behaviour, the shops that pay for space understandably don't want to get cut out by freeloaders. There is even a rule in place that traders are only allowed to have one binder per person out of their bag and on the table for perusal. That said the German shops that came to GP Prague last year can suck it. Fair enough they charge shop prices as they brought a huge, huge quantity of EDH foils, but to then screw us Czechs over on the exchange rate? 30 CZK to the euro? Are you kidding me? Get stuffed, I'll take my chances on the backpack dealers. __________________ The Best Thing About EDH: "It’s like poker night, but nerdier." -David Schreiner

They're probably mad because Czech women are far hotter than German women.

Kicking out traders never made much sense, if you seriously can't compete with backpack traders you have no right calling yourself a dealer..__________________ I shall have the souls of all who defy me. "Lord Crovax"

That statement would stand if the backpack traders also paid the $1500-$5000 dealer table rental fee that gets charged at GPs to the real dealers. Events cost money to put on, dealers paying for table space help offset those costs. Without them it would be likely big events wouldn't even get planned.

Only way I can see banning backpackers is if they are bringing the same amount of stock as the table dealers, but if they are banning people with 3-4 binders, that's just stupid. __________________ I shall have the souls of all who defy me. "Lord Crovax"

So I'm ok with my one little binder I take it? Certainly not hauling massive amounts of cards to Europe.

Yep, yep, you should be fine, especially if you're single and can make it over to Moravia for a day.quote: Originally posted by ryanghall: They're probably mad because Czech women are far hotter than German women.
