your list of reasons for not deserving a 4 is laughable.. at best...
1. stating your card condition is a mutual courtesy as part of trading, this is the norm
2. you have 3 refs, of course you're sending first (more than likely will be the norm for a while)
3. offering compensation when your card condition is an issue this is the norm, or get bta'd
4. "perfect" communication.. you're trading online, communication is two way, he responded, thus it can be categorized his communication with you is also not lacking
5. card condition is expected to be a bare min to not be listed specifically, you really didnt do much out of the norm to be honest

so, i broke it down for you.. nothing you did was exceptional by any meaning of the word.. you are at the level of avg/norm of the majority of trades done, and what the majority of traders here have done..

and yes, for the simple fact you listed all those non spectacular reasons for warranting what you presume earned you a "5" is a LOT of whining.. aka complaining

I'd totally still trade you despite the 4. I would say 99.9% of the forum would, and the .1% are probably not worth your time.

I think my ref list is a perfect example of this. When I first came back I was a straight 4 because ALL my refs were from before the convert. I however only had to send first on two trades to reestablish. I have not encountered any problems. I have gotten only fives upon returning and the average is slowly creeping up!

So now its a 3 rating, and, suddenly, my grading is "very off" instead of a little off. If I am not mistaken, part of trade experience is the interaction online with the other person.

However, I will add some perspective. Trading on here used to be different. People were more likely to do throw-ins and put forth effort to make trades exceptional. I did stuff like that all the time and always got 5s. But look at feedback for some other people, even Coolio. Doesn't look like he has done anything on MOTL since 2010 except post snarky comments, but he has 10+ years on MOTL before that of trading history. He has a 4 rating from 1 guy who commented 'GREAT TRADER!!!!' and still got a 4.

What I'm getting at is, I can sympathize with you but I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Just keep doing good trades with people and you'll build up your 5s.

I got a 4 once because I forgot to sign a basic land like the trader wanted and he was upset his cards took shorter time to get to me from South Africa than mine took to get to him (obviously out of my control Mr. Customs Man).

Stop beating it.
