Hi,I thought I saw a reference somewhere when it came to finger grease on cards. If the cards is NM, but has finger grease, is it SP or MP (or does it stay NM)? I can't seem to find the grading guide that I saw it in. Someone sent me a card and stated it was NM, but it definitely has a fair amount so trying to determine value difference. Appreciate input from everyone or a link on this. Thanks...Greg

Finger grease? How does that look on a card? Just makes it cloudy, or?And personally i wouldn't call that nm, bring it up to that trader.

I don't consider finger grease or anything that makes the front/back of a card appear spotty a NM card. I don't clean cards to make them NM. That is why I asked the person I trade with if the card is NM. Just trying to determine if it should be SP or MP before I approach trader. It's not a big card, but just want to teach the difference between a NM card vs non NM. Holding any card at an angle usually can tell whether/how a card was handled.

if a card has a foreign substance on it, not only is it gross, it is also decidedly NOT NM. If you can clean it off without damaging it, it may be possible to return it to NM condition but be careful.

What I was saying is that from time to time people do get oils on the cards. It's kind of a natural thing humans do. Typically it comes off and doesn't damage the card. If you have something that is that severe then those people need to wash their hands more often.

Or stop stuffing cheetos into their card sleeves. __________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. We don't like games. We don't know games. We can't read minds. Say it like you mean or STFU." -rockondonMy Sale Thread

I don't know where you get your snacks but I've never had finger grease cheetos.

Ah, but there are many kinds of hydrophobic substances. Some will permanently adhere to your precious card surfaces. And some will not.
