"The goal of MTG Crossing is to allow fans of Magic: the Gathering to receive personalised booster packs from all over the world, for free. The main idea is if you send personalised booster packs, you will receive personalised booster packs."-MTG Crossing About Tab If you like MOTL Secret Santa, I suspect you will like this as well (since you get "secret Santa" packages at other times throughout the year!). A friend of mine built this site and he is looking for more people who are interested in sending and receiving customized booster packs. I have been a member for a couple of months now and so far have sent out 8 packs and received 7 packs. The service itself is free, the only thing you pay for is postage. Basically, you put together a "booster pack" (for example) of 15 cards based on a randomly selected registered member's wish list/profile. Then you send it out. The system registers that you have sent and you go into a pool of available recipients that can be selected for the next sender. The pack you receive will come from another random member. It is based on the concept of Postcrossing, which in itself is neat. More info can be found here. I am a big fan of this concept, it is really, really fun. It would be awesome to have more folks join up. Thanks for reading.

To add on this post, I have been using the site as a "beta-user" for a while now, half sent and gotten a half-dozen packs. Its always fun to open a pack in the mail with a bunch of surprises!

This''ll never survive.Packs of 15 random cards- yet, if said person only has said 10 wants- you can't complete a full pack. It's a nice idea though. I'll try it out to prove my point prolly. lol Another example- Here is my 15 random wants: Polluted Delta Savannah Badlands Underground Sea ...are you getting the picture and idea...

One of my recipients had no wish list and no profile at all. I had nothing to go on. So I put together a pack for the member and mailed it out. They were happy to receive and said thanks. There are no requirements to provide what is on the wish list. The wish list and the profile exist to try and help the sender put something together that you will enjoy opening. Obviously if you have unrealistic wishes you will be disappointed.

Setting up a geographic "limitation" is something that I believe is being worked on, though I suspect coding it might be a bit of work. I know there are people who do not like to send internationally and that's fine.Anyway, thanks for signing up to try it out, sorry that it doesn't work for you.

So a random booster pack will consist of 15 cards? 1 rare or mythic rare, 3 uncommons, 11 commons or 10 commons and a random foil if someone chooses to do so?

The booster is not limited by rarities. One of mine came and it was 15 uncommons. I have had a couple with 4 or 5 rares. I have sent some of my own with 4 or 5 rares or foils. What you put in the booster is up to you.

I like it and think the idea is cool. If there is NO requirements about what you gotta put in there... then why not? Seems fun. I'd be willing to make a pretty cool pack every once in a while... Maybe you could even become "booster buddies" with someone and if they did you right you may feel inclined to do them a kindness... who knows?

Frank here, creator of MTG Crossing. I've built this service in my spare time to allow people to send and receive personalised Magic booster packs. I wanted to give something back to the Magic-community where in a fun way people could give away the cards that are collecting dust, and in return get cards that might actually be useful.Currently, most of our users are from the Netherlands since I'm from the Netherlands myself, but it would be great to have more users from other countries. So I would like ask everybody who is interested just to give it a go and send a pack, since you'll always get something back. Going forward, I have geographic "limitation" on my list of features I would add to the service down the road, but the community now just too small to make this work properly. I'm constantly trying to improve the site based on feedback from the community. Last week I made it possible for people to add foils and promo's to a wishlist after several members requested this tool. So give it a go and let me know what you think would make this site better! __________________ Get personalised boosters on http://mtgcrossing.com!

First and foremost, You need a foundation of traders from the largest place of traders, USA? Promotion/advertisement also helps. __________________ 28th in refs on Motl! #1 Ref's for Arizona! It would be great to be able to build the user base in the USA since it holds so much potential. MTG Crossing is targeted towards casual players as opposed to hardcore traders who already have lots of places to go to. This makes finding promotion places on the web a little bit more challenging. Would you have any suggestion on websites/forums which would be a good place to start? __________________ Get personalised boosters on MTG Crossing!

I'm happy to announce it's now possible to indicate you only want to send personalised boosters to people from your own country. So do give MTG Crossing a go and let me know what you think! In the last 6 months already more than 200 personalised boosters have been send and it would be great to double this number before the end of the year! __________________ Get personalised boosters on MTG Crossing!

Sounds interesting. Might be a fun way to get some of those cheapo EDH cards. I've signed up and will send a few boosters this week.__________________ Trade me your commons!oneofchaos: "Anyone recommend anything in the terms of playmat protection?" chaos021: "So you wanna protect the play mat that's supposed to help protect your cards? A great idea until somebody's want lists is... P9, dual lands and foil dark confident... "for the token slot I want the foil angel/demon from Avacyn!"Just like the secret santa. That same guy will whine bitterly when he doesn't get P9, duals and a foil dark confident and the foil token... and will himself ship 15 mirage commons.

From what I understand you don't have to send them the exact cards on their want list, it's just a general guideline. I could be mistaken though.

Correct, it's a guideline. If you're indeed expecting P9 cards you're setting yourself up for disappointment. Of course I'm biased, but I'm having good fun with it. I'm currently building a deck exclusively from cards received via MTG Crossing. I have only indicated that I want it to be B/W. And the community is very generous. Today somebody was surprised with a pack consisting out of 15 x 15 cards: https://mtgcrossing.com/pack/NL-NL-527

I have yet to send anything out, but with good reason.1) My collection is jank. I do not have a tradeable card over the value of $20 (save one). So, in the end, they would be getting jank, and resulting in a poor rating of my pack sent. That is not much incentive to send a pack out. 2) Um, sure great, now I can send out to my own country, USA, but how many are there? 2? Am I gonna get my address to send a pack to because there are hardly any US traders addy's? 3) Sending out 4 packs to get 1 pack is bad math ratio. I really do not want to send out 4 packs, or 6 or 10 or whatever, to recevie 1 or 2 packs in return, say within a 6 month time frame. 4) My wishlist is exactly that. a wishlist. If I do not get one card from that list of mine, its cool with me. But then again, I really do not want 15x commons and/or uncommons. I think its like getting a grabbag of 15 random cards from someone, Not knowing if you are getting a randomingized pack of cards or his leftover cards from a draft of standard. ~Revenger

I can see where you're coming from, revenger, however, despite my initial misgivings, many of which were the same, I've found the site to be a unique and fun experience. It's not about the value of what you send or what you receive; it's more about having a little fun with the concept. We all love opening boosters, but have we ever thought about building them? Likely not. It's an interesting concept. Unfortunately, it is limited in North America right now and that makes it a bit of a turn off as far as making quick exchanges. Then again, there's nothing like opening the mailbox to find that unexpected booster that you'd forgotten was on its way. With school ending soon for the semester, I fully expect to be back on the site and more active as I've been lucky enough to receive two great, well-thought out, and generous boosters from other members. My $0.02

This looks interesting, but seems very limited to Europeans and North Americans with little chance of expanding into Asia. Sadly I live in Asia with little chance of moving back to North America soon. I will definitely keep an eye on it though to see if I can participate someday.
